Well, in my town, T3 is opening on Tuesday and the first showing is at 8:00 p.m. So, I'm sure it won't make that much in its first day. T2 also opened on Tuesday with very little to show for it.
So, I'm thinking its weekend number definitely won't be as good as a movie that's premiering on a Friday. So, don't be too disappointed when you see the numbers.

I actually am looking forward to t3 because of the trailers! I honestly think this one is going to absolutely kick butt! It honestly looks better than Martix Relaoded and if any film deservess the overrated sticker it's that one.

Of course it won't better than t2. But not many action flicks are! T2 is like a daimond in the ruff. It's so good it's like it was a fluke! Just go into t3 with an open mind, bring some popcorn and soda, and try to not to let all the hearsay get to you one way or the other.
Uh...dude, you need to cut back on the exclamation marks!!!!

Let me say that I have low expectations for this one but still have a strong interest in seeing it. I know darn well it isn't going to be a Cameron movie and will most likely be in the vein of just another action movie than the first two. But, I love some good sci-fi action, and this one looks like it has plenty.
My expectations are modest, but I doubt I'll see this one more than once if it disappoints.

Seems kind of ballsy these days to have a $200 million, huge summer blockbuster movie only be 109 minutes. I will say that many times lately I have grown tired of a movie 3/4 of the way through, so maybe this will be a plus for T3.

Either way, I'm very surprised with that "short" running time...

I just hope people go in with an open mind. So many are ready to dismiss this because JC isn't involved. If you liked U-571 (I did, some didn't), you know that Mostow can put together a decent action flick. Unlike Ang Lee, who I think was all wrong for Hulk, I think Mostow is not a bad choice for T3.

I don't know. I'm hoping for the best. We could sure use a pleasant surprise after all the major disappointments this season (Reloaded, Hulk, CA:FT, Hollywood Homicide, 2F2F, etc.). Nemo is the only pleasant surprise so far (but I guess given Pixar's involvement it is not such a surprise). This summer has got to top most in recent years for overrated films that turn out to be dogs. Let's hope T3 breaks the string.

Reloaded rocked!!! I kind of agree with the others though. I disagree with your claim that this was a summer with big films all turning out to be dogs. I think Summer 2001 has to take the cake with Pearl Harbor, Swordfish, Tomb Raider, Jurassic Park 3, and Planet of the Apes. I was waiting all summer to be swept away and love a movie, but it never happened. I was more than compensated with the release of LOTR:FOTR in December though, so I guess it panned out.
Also, just what is the budget of T3? It seems like everyone has a different report in terms of how much a movie really cost this summer. Hulk and CA:FT only confirm that their budgets were north of $100 million, but never how much was actually spent. Last I heard T3 was in the neighborhood of $160 million.

Short... has anyone sat through a movie that was an hour and fifty minutes long and thought they were short changed?? Hardly ever. Most summer blockbusters usually clock in at about an hour and forty, hour and fifty... there are the larger scale movies that sometimes reach two hours plus.... but more often than not, you leave wondering if they couldn't have cut about twenty minutes out... I was worried about JP3 being 90 minutes (which would be considered short for a blockbuster...seemed like it was missing the last act, ditto for MIIB) but have no problem at all with T3 being 109...I think they'll be able to do a great job within that frame....

I'm excited about the T3, but I really hope it's not all just action and explosion. I need explanation and motive.

Well, I think Terminator is a lot better than Terminator 2. I just watched the excellent documentary "Other Voices" on the T1 Special Edition, and you can really see that the Terminator belongs to Camerson.

As far as runtimes, it means absolutely nothing. I thought parts of Terminator 2 were boring, the middle (after the hospital scene) kinda lagged.

To tell you the truth, the scariest part of T3 is how they will handle Sarah Conner. She has got to be one of the best movie heroes out there.

Harlan Ellison would disagree with you.

They say she died. Nothing really scary.

I am not sure any movie can live up to the hype, T2 lived up to and surpassed the hype. Lefts hope T3 can atleast approach the hype.

Thanks for

Anyway, in response to this:
But I've been watching a little of the promotion for this movie, like Arnold on Leno, and the clip they showed was just missing something. I'm not sure what it was, but this movie definitely didn't have the same feel as T2.
The missing part is probably James Cameron, among the best directors/writers of the last 20 years. The first 2 were entirely his. T3 is anything but.

From the trailers, it seems like it'll be a very good action movie, but without the substance and "coolness" of the first two. But I hope I'm wrong.

I don't think T3 has the hype that it possibly would if Cameron was involved. Much like the stock market does when there's a interest rate move, the Cameron factor has been factored in and people's expectations aren't as high, I would say most people have reasonable expectation like they would for any summer action flick.

But maybe its just me. I don't in anyway think that this movie will be as good as T2, and I won't be going to see it in that frame of mind. I'm hoping its good and entertains, like I would with any movie.

Basically, T2 worked because Cameron had come up with the idea of Sarah taking on Cyberdyne in the 1st movie and shelved it. So he kinda had the idea that would spawn T2. This movie seems to be a complete "leap of faith" I hope its good but we will see.

Ebert and Roeper both liked the movie, although Ebert didn't give a thumbs up. You could tell he will be first in line to get the DVD though.

Im not worried at all. For a few reasons, one being that all the reviews so far have been postive. And another reason is I dont care if it bombs. As long as I enjoy this movie, Im happy. So what if it bombs, so there wont be a 4. Big deal, Im satisfied with a trilogy. I dont think it will suck, theyve spent too much time and money on it for it to suck. So no, Im not worried at all.
