There's no way around it, that's a huge bomb for Charlie's Angels. Sometimes the audience surprises -- with all the ads along, I'd have figured this would break $50 million. Maybe people thought it looked too dumb from the trailers?
And Hulk is off 70% from last weekend? Hulk smashed.

3 Finding Nemo $13,886,000 / $253,910,000
4 28 Days Later $9,730,000 / $9,730,000
5 Bruce Almighty $6,190,000 / $221,330,000
6 Fast 2 Furious $5,676,000 / $113,446,000

10 Alex and Emma $2,655,000 / $11,572,000
11 The Matrix Reloaded $2,500,000 / $268,900,000
12 Daddy Day Care $2,300,000 / $97,800,000
Not many people went to the theaters this weekend. Perhaps
a lot of anticipation for the 4th of July weekend?
The Hulk looks like it may end up breaking even domestically
(it cost $137 to make) and end up with 175/200 million worldwide.
Finding Nemo is creeping up on Matrix Reloaded and should pass
it by next week, and a Mighty Bruce seems to be edging towards
it as well. Matrix 2 falls from the top 10 after 7 weeks.
Pretty bad numbers all around. Charlies Angels 2 has to be a
disappointment. Does this mean Demi Moores come back is a
falure?

That may mark the end of Charlies Angels movies...unless the flick does ridiculously well overseas. I have a lot more faith in the public now, but still, this movie was being talked about EVERYWHERE, maybe the over-exposure backfired? Either way, this is a huge dissapointment for them.
I'm not God, but either way damn I'm good!
Why in the hell are they going to make a Hulk sequel now? There is virtually no interest.

GOOD:
- 28 Days Later made almost $10 million and had the 2nd highest PSA in the top 10 this weekend. Hopefully the positive word of mouth spreads on this film.
- Hulk got smashed (and hopefully Ang Lee's carreer will be smashed too in the process).
BAD:
- Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle didn't do as well as everybody was expecting. I haven't seen it yet, so I have no room to comment. But could this mean that Legally Blonde 2 might not do so hot at the box office too? (God could only hope.)

Boxofficemojo.com predicted that "CA:FT" would make 57 million. Can't believe anyone thought that. That's pretty high. I mean, the first made 40 million. And the sequel did just 2 million less. Sure, "FT" cost more to make, but is there anyone out there (other than Hollywood) that thought it would do better?

I think a lot of people, if not most, felt it would do better. Go look for the Summer Box Office predictions thread. The first movie was well recieved as a fun film and the second was hyped as more of the same. In fact, i thought just the opposite... i thought just about everyone expected Full Throttle to do better.

I wouldn't put all the blame on Ang Lee, I'd put more blame on James Schamus for writing those films as Sense and Sensibility is Lee's best picture (IMO) and Schamus had no help in writing it.

But Universal's new adveritising campaign to get people in the theaters to see Hulk is very interesting by mentioning "people are arguing about it, now see it for yourself." Just look at DVD Talk, HTF, Fark.com, Aint It Cool News, or any other website with a message board when Hulk is mentioned. There will be the people saying it's good, and people saying it sucks.
At least Universal has 2 Fast 2 Furious and Bruce Almighty to fall back on as at this rate The Hulk might barely make it's $130 million budget back. If it continues it's 70% drop next weekend, it'll have a third weekend of $5-6 million. But with the July 4th weekend, it might make a bit more than that.

Im so glad CA:FT is bombing. Just a few more flops for Sony till they revive a certain franchise that I wont mention just yet.
This may be mean, but I hope Bad Boys 2 and Spiderman 2 flop. I dont wanna see more sequels of these films. And thinkfully Hulk is bombing too. I want to see more old franchise brought back.

And if more films flop for Sony, then they can always rely on Revolution Studios which have made like 6 successful films so far out of like 20 or so.

I think it's still too early in the summer to decide that.

I couldn't care less about Spiderman. I like to see Raimi suceed, but Spiderman doesn't really hold anything dear to me. On the other hand, don't mess with Bad Boys. I've been waiting for a sequel since 1999 when I first heard about it, and Tom Dey was attached. I'm glad that he dropped out of it, and Michael Bay came back in.
I haven't seen an action film so well done since Bad Boys. The original just knew when to act serious. In comparison, Charlies Angels had potnetial to be really cool. Throughout the whole movie, I was waiting for it to just change it's tune a little. But it didn't. It just stayed unbearably silly, and had really crappy dance-techno songs in the background, with camerawork that eventually made me just look away from the screen.
Back to Bad Boys. I think the action choreography, while sometimes terribly cliche, was excellent. There's a few roll-your-eyes parts. But the action was very entergetic and engrossing.
Now that I've seen the Cowboy Bebop Movie and 28 Days Later, Bad Boys 2 and Return of the King are "the two" movies for me this year. I'm sure there will be more in the Nov-Dec timeframe that I'll be looking forward to later. But as of right now, those two are the only ones that I'm looking forward to.

I'll get started for next week:
I hope T3 bombs because it'll never be the masterpiece that Terminator or T2 was. If it doesn't beat T2's opening weekend it'll be a huge disappointment.
Seriously...
I actually am hoping for the best for T3. I'll watch it with an open mind (as much as possible). Actually, T2 didn't have great numbers when it opened on a Tuesday ($2.4m opening day; $31.7m on its first weekend). So, with a lot of movies opening in over 3,000 theaters nowadays, it should do better than T2. Still, it may not beat T2's overall domestic take of $204m.
