mwj 06-20-03 07:25 PM

My favorite is definitely Ronin. French Connection and To Live And Die In L.A. are also great.

Jason1973 06-20-03 07:26 PM

Another vote for Ronin.

Norm de Plume 06-20-03 08:00 PM

Those in The Driver (1978)

Hiro11 06-20-03 08:05 PM

I think the chases in Ronin top those in Bullitt and French Connection.

Diva has a very cool moped/foot/car chase.

Road Warrior and Mad Max are pure genius.

William Fuld 06-20-03 08:07 PM

One I like a lot is the brief slow speed chase in The Way of the Gun. It's silly, but still tense.

victant 06-20-03 08:24 PM

A favorite is a scene in Gun Smith Cats ;)

resinrats 06-20-03 08:29 PM

Any scene with the Coyote from Hardcastle & McCormic,

PJsig08 06-20-03 08:34 PM

The Rock, no question. Love that scene.

Hear the Ronin one is good...the Transporter chase was pretty good too.

edstein 06-20-03 08:44 PM

Another vote for Blues Brothers.

Robert 06-20-03 09:02 PM

Matrix Reloaded - a 14 minute supercharged chase of operatic proportions

DonnachaOne 06-20-03 09:05 PM

Any of the ones in BMW's The Hire.

Ah yes, Walter Hill's The Driver.

This is on the top of my most wanted DVD list. I have the import laserdisc (never released domestically on LD) but a widescreen SE would be most welcome.

BuckeyeDawg 06-20-03 10:06 PM

I like the opening sequence to 'The Transporter' but my favorite chase scene is from...

Bullitt

B.A. 06-20-03 10:18 PM

The French Connection
Bullitt (you have to count the hubcaps)
Go
The Italian Job (2003)
The Matrix Reloaded

Ginwen 06-20-03 11:37 PM

To Live and Die in LA

Skull 06-21-03 12:20 AM

Italian Job, The Rock, French Connection.

eedoon 06-21-03 12:52 AM

Definitely The French Connection. That scene is terrific.
Also, Hostage, Ambush, and Ticker from The Hire series.

rkndkn 06-21-03 03:31 AM

Absolutely agree with "To Live and Die in L.A." and "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry".

Also like the one in "The Seven Ups".

(Anyone reminded of the Pontiac ad with the blindfolded guy?)

Corvin 06-21-03 06:27 AM

Am I the only person, then, who found the chase scene in The French Connection underwhelming? All I heard about for seventeen years of my life was how great this chase was, only to be hit with something that didn't excite me at all.

Mountain Biker 06-21-03 11:06 AM

The Road Warrior
To Live and Die in L.A.
Ronin
Fast and the Furious
2 Fast 2 Furious
Beverly Hills Cop

Chim 06-21-03 12:24 PM

ronin by far

RyoHazuki 06-21-03 05:38 PM

My vote definetly goes to Mitchell.

Right On!

Nothing can match that beat up brown chevy with an obsessed Hackman behind the weel

The To Live and Die In L.A chase going against the traffic was well done also

Friedkin is the man!

yes..Your the only person :)

Ronin by a long shot. I can think of no film that generates such tension with car chases and still maintains such an incredible level of realism.

If you just want to see things crash and blow up, I'd have to say Matrix Reloaded.

NavinJohnson 06-21-03 10:29 PM

Bullitt would be my personal fave.

FHaggis 06-22-03 12:43 AM

THE CHASE!

hahah j/k I had to say that anyway because it was amusing as hell. :P

Ronin seemed like a two hour car chase with some dialogue thrown in a couple of places. Somehow, I still enjoyed it (the great cast helped)...

Bullitt gets my vote, with The French Connection second. Also, while not a car chase, the moped chase scene in Diva is great.

Wag 06-22-03 12:47 PM

I would vote for the classics: Bullit and French Connection. More recent favorite is Ronin.

Deckard-10 06-22-03 04:06 PM

Have to go with Ronin.

AGuyNamedMike 06-22-03 04:28 PM

Most mentioned here already.

Bullitt
French Connection
Ronin
Vanishing Point
Duel
Red Heat (bus vs bus!)

I agree. I really enjoyed that sequence.

Ronin, of course, and Bullitt.

One not yet mentioned that I enjoyed was the fairly short chase sequence in The Peacemaker. I liked how Devoe remained the aggressor, even while being chased. The end of the chase sequence, where:

Spoiler:
he walks up to the incapacitated man in the wrecked BMW and murders him without so much as a hesitation, was refreshingly honest for Hollywood fare.

EskimoJoe 06-22-03 11:00 PM

Bullitt
