Anyone Else Feel The Music In "Spirited Away" Is A Let Down?
After watching this several times, only OCCASIONALLY does the music/score capture the bizarre fantasy and mystery sucessfully IMHO.
Sometimes the bouncy tunes have a '70's lounge music' feel to it. No joke.
Some parts had the rambling piano that seemed appropriate yet I dont know. The music trivialized it more than helped it. Anyone notice this?

I love anime and I did enjoy this movie--some of the music parts are beautiful.
But *At times* wouldnt you admit that the music for this movie is kiddie and cartoony--inapropriately so? Ok I'll try to think of some examples without having the movie in front of me:
The 'stink spirit' cleaning sequence? Or after 'the final test' sequence? maybe its just when the soundtrack tries to convey happy things is when it gets cheezy?

No way. The score is as good as anything else Hisaishi has done and the baroque song over the end credits brings a tear to my eye.

Same here. The flight scene at the end had the same effect.

You're kidding, right? Spirited Away has one of the best score I've ever listened on any recent movie. Great score, imo.

not kidding. Some parts just had simple 'filler music' that would show up on some 'lite' radio station. Not mysterious, not inspiring. I mentioned some scenes that i could remember. The parts that people have mentioned like the 'train scene' ARE mysterious and haunting and i had no problem with that.
Think of the parts with the "Peter Cetera/Chicago" trumpet music. Believe me its in there. I couldnt put my finger on it till i saw the movie over 3 times in one week.
