Question, how far is the rape scene into the movie. I watched parts, great movie, I had the commentary on, there looked like to be an attempted rape of some kind at the begning where a character rubs a gun on a womans nipples. Is this it?

Alright old thread I know but I had to say that this movie is highly overrated. Just watched it a couple of nights ago and oh man. All the praise I heard about this. Never trust the internet.

Maybe you can elaborate on your critisizm, beyond "oh man"?
This is not a straight-forward film, and should not be viewed so. It is more lyrical and poetic, not unlike a song. It's part character study and part society study. It does not follow a traditional narative and should not be evaluated as if it does.

I also just watched this a few days ago and had the complete opposite reaction. I was truly blown away. I loved everything about this movie, especially the score and the acting. I am new to the work of Sergio Leone (I know where have I been) but I am now anxious to see more of his work.Originally posted by RyoHazuki7

Ok Im not saying it was a bad movie cause it wasnt. Im saying it was overrated. People talk about the great friendship between the men. They hardly seemed to be friends. Robert De Niro's character was one of the most confusing movie characters ive ever seen. In the middle of the of the robbery when he rapes that woman? wtf? It didnt seem realistic at all either. We all know how gangsters recruit kids to do their dirty work and how police officers open fire on 11 year olds and how a kid who is about 13 can kill an armed police officer with just a knife. The ending was also one of the worst endings they could have chosen. I guess they added that to fit the theme of time just jumping around. Godfather II this is not. I used to think I could watch Robert Deniro for hours just doing nothing and maybe I could, but to hear people praise his doing nothing for hours. I think not.

I watched this a couple of weeks ago...I was really looking forward to it...and it was probably my biggest DVD disappointment ever. I guess that I just couldn't get into it for some strange reason.

saw it on HD/blu-ray on my big screen (135"), while I'd seen it before on TV, seeng it so big was like a completely different movie. still buzzing about it a few days later. why doesn't it have 'godfather' status? I liked it better. Probably the most soulful, beautiful movie I've seen...

Clover, many people love this film. Such as myself. But no way should it be considered anywhere near as great as "The Godfather" or "Godfather II".Originally Posted by CloverClover

I think it's the best western ever made..and also one of the greatest films ever. If there's a western that can literally be called a piece of art...OUATITW is it. It's not your regualar western. It's a fucking opera of one. It's extreme in everything. The music, the actors, the shots, etc...

Johnny Depp was pretty great, too, although not enough Salma Hayek. Originally Posted by Solid Snake PAC

Its an interesting movie with great production values and great acting, but the pace for me was a killer. I rewatched it a couple of years ago with my father and we split it between two evenings. It was a slog. The one HUGE problem i have with it is the ending of James Woods character. I mean really. Thats what happens? A garbage truck? That i found just ridiculous.

yeah that flick is great too, they don't make them like these nowadays, everything is too left-brained, while these movies were all about the feelingOriginally Posted by Solid Snake PAC

Isn't Pesci's character (Frankie) when he is seen going tothe hospital the only scene that he appears in the movie?
I've heard there are 2 cuts to this movie.
What other scenes is Pesci in?

There is a scene where De Niro meets Pesci earlier in the movie.
