I saw a trailer for "Looney Tunes: Back in Action" before seeing "Finding Nemo" yesterday, which is slated to hit movie theaters Nov. 14, 2003. The film stars Brendan Fraser, Jenna Elfman, Joan Cusack, Heather Locklear and Steve Martin. I thought it looked fantastic. Sort of like a "Roger Rabbit" type movie with humans and WB characters. It had a cool James Bond 007 type trailer. Did anybody else see the trailer?

In other words, Space Jam 2.

Well I have never seen Space Jam, but this looked funny and the audience was clearly amused.

I think it will be more than Space Jam 2. It is being directed by Joe Dante who has decent directing skills but more importantly the utmost respect for the Looney Tunes. He is a huge fan and I bet this movie will be done right.

It looked funny in a poke-fun-at-the-genre way. It didn't remind me of Space Jam at all.

Except written by one of the writers from the Simpsons.

Well, I saw this one TWICE today... needless to say, I loved it. It is chock full of Looney Tune references, Movie parodies and homages and lots of nice little touches that will keep movie buffs entertained for the entire duration. This certainly was no Space Jam... it erases the memory of that flick and brings the Tunes back to their former glory. Joe Dante did a great job, the cast is really game and the movie was nothing but over the top fun. GO SEE IT.

I'm glad to hear it seems to be NOT what I was expecting, which is a good thing.

I saw it this morning with my two younger siblings. Awesome movie. Tons of refrences and what not kept me entertained the whole time. If you get a chance you should really see this movie.

How can you menstion James Bond and not menstion the James Bond actor in it?

2 times James Bond actor Timothy Dalton plays the father, he's the highlight as to why I'm watching it, great to see Dalton back, even if its amusing role

I found this live action cartoon pretty amusing, with lots of laughs for kiddies and adults. The pop cultural and self-referential humor (at product placement, etc) are funny and the movie moved along with nary a slow spot, which is a plus if your primary audience is young. Steve Martin is probably the least effective of the live action actors. If you like Looney Tunes, and appreciate its style of humor, this film is for you.

I give it 3 stars, or a grade of B.

Oh gawd...this flick was absolutely horrendous. I couldn't believe they could suck the life out of something as spontaneous and outrageously funny as the Looney Toons. But they did. What a waste.

I love Cool New Members. They bring so much insight to the world of cinema.

When Back in Action is nominated for Best Animated Feature, I will eat my words and bow down to you, oh wise one who hath attained hallowed Special Edition status.

I just think your post was pretty harsh without ever saying why you didnt like it. Maybe next time you feel like telling us how much you hate a movie, you should tell us why as well.

Also I dont think it is eligible for Best Animated Feature and getting a nom for that doesnt mean anything anyways. Jimmy Neutron and Spirit both got nominations.

I was a bit leary about Back in Action (Space Jam has scarred me for life). But after reading the comments here and Roger Ebert's review I think I'll use that ticket coupon from the Golden Collection and take the kiddies to see it.

Hey, what's with the hating on Jimmy Neutron and Spirit? I liked both of those films and thought they were pretty good overall. I hope you have seen both of them and not bashing blindly?

And I'm not saying it should win an Oscar, but I see no reason why it's not eligible. In the past movies like Stuart Little have been eligible. Can't remember the exact requirements but if Stuart Little using CGI created characters is eligible, I would think Back in Action would be too.

Actually TANJ comes from the Stainless Steel Rat series of books by Harry Harrison. At least that's where I first saw the acronym.

Where's the love for this movie? Are all of you too busy watching Cat in the Hat or something? This is the kind of movie that should be getting lots of love on a movie forum like this.

I loved it. Very funny film. Not Dante's best, but that would be hard to beat. Steve Martin, who I usually love, was the weakest thing in the movie.

Loved the references to Fiend w/Out a Face, This Island Earth, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, etc.
