The four children, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy, are all featured in the first two books, but only Edmund and Lucy return for the third book because Peter and Susan are apparently "too old" to return to Narnia as the adults they will eventually become. If the director stays true to the original material by C.S. Lewis, then the two younger kids will get more out of the franchise.

Great stories, and I tried to return to Narnia myself (book form) but found myself unable. Either the writing was geared towards children, or my mind just isn't flexible enough to re-read it. Or, which may very well be the case, I wasn't in the right frame of mind. I bought the "Chronicles," and will try it again someday. Maybe, when my son is older, I will read it to him.

Aaaaah, but they all come back in The Last Battle. Peter is da shiznit. Edmund was a sniveling turd until he grew up a bit in the later books.

Yeah, Edmund was a pouty, conniving brat who wound up getting snatched up by the Ice Queen once he crossed over from the Wardrobe to Narnia. He did have the greatest transformation of character, hence my favorite of the four children.

I'd say Eustace had an even greater character transformation, but I do enjoy Edmund's arc as well.

And Susan still got screwed.

-eek- I must have missed that chapter! I guess I definitely should reread these books soon.

I disagree. The books were meant to be read in the order they were written, so they should film the movies in the same order. Having The Magician's Nephew come first complete destroys the wonder and discovery of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, IMHO.
I agree with Groucho (wow!). The Magician's Nephew belonged as the next to last book; I won't even buy the new ones because of this reordering. I bought them last year, and reread them, but bought all used releases, so they'd be in the right order. And yes, I know I could read them in any order I choose, but it just annoys me that they decided to do this.

The article above perpetuates the new ordering
"The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, published in 1950, is the second and best-known novel in the seven-part Narnia series."
