I'd assume programs, too.
I also assume that the twins are vampires, and the two henchmen (Persephone kills one of them) are werewolves. She says something like, "They created more problems than they solved. Afterall, who keeps silver bullets in their gun?".
Furthermore, the fighters against Neo were bending some of the rules--something we haven't seen unplugged humans do.

No I would think the twins are obviously ghosts :P
I believe you fight vampires in the Enter the Matrix game becuase the only way to kill them is with a wooden stake through the heart.

Hah. Yeah, I guess you're right.
Although I do remember reading (in an article discussing the unfair cinematic portrayal of Albinos) a WB spokesperson say that the twins were supposed to be "15th century gothic vampires."
So I guess I did more than assume--although ghosts definitely seems to make more sense.

I found it interesting that the Twins used a razor for a weapon. What kind of monster/creature traditonally uses that? All I could think of was "The Legend of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street", if any of yall have seen that play.

Sure there's a good reason for it, but this does seem a bit odd

Obsolete doesn't mean weaker... just not needed for anything (thus, making good bodyguards). Remember Persophene also mentions something like they were also harder to get rid of.

Brucifer,
That's because he was a werewolf and she used a silver bullet. Remember Neo's conversation with the Oracle and then remember when Persephone asked "who keeps silver bulletts in their gun?"

Remember, they work for her husband, so they're expected to be loyal and obediant, even to her. Also, I don't think they were expecting her to pull a pistol loaded with silver bullets out of her purse to execute the hired help.
Recall the look on the second werewolve's face after she shot the first one point blank in the forehead? I think he shat his pants...
