The Merovingian Kings
I found it interesting that there were only 5 generations of Merovingian Kings- just like there were

I think the Merovignian isn't a reference to the Kings or to the Generations of Kings, but to the 'origins' (decended from Mary and Joseph, Gnostic ties, Templars, etc.).

It is widely speculated that they originally desended from the ancient Spartans, and made ther way to Palestine eventually to the south of France.

merovignian kings,
it could be that if the theory of the Da Vinci Code is true that the reason for the only five generations is the opposition to their line by Church actions and that they went underground as in Da Vinci Code Story, and are under attack by Church whenever they are revealed.
also, the name, Merovignian may have a clue as to where their origin is, Mer is similar to the root for mother, Mere as in GrandMere or grandmother, and Vignian may mean vine, or of the Vine, this is a Term used In reference to Jesus as he was the True Vine, and his Father is the Husbandman, what do you guys think, eh, tresc77

Interesting. When Matrix Reloaded first came out, I had a theory that The Merovingian was one of the chosen ones from an earlier form of The Matrix, and that the Oracle had lead him astray thinking he would save everything, and that was why he hated her so much.

I always thought the Merovengian was the first Neo. There was a ton of talk about it way back when.
- He keeps around goons from the first iteration of the Matrix
- His woman is all about the "kiss," the first Trinity(?)
There were more reasons to believe this but I'm drawing a blank now.

and i'll agree with others, i'm not sure what defines a generation, but that family tree is ten deep, not five.
