Down With Love -- The Ultimate Chick Flick?

I am a man. There is no freakin' way I am going to go see Down With Love. The whole premise looks exactly like something your wife or girlfriend would drag you to see. And as you were suffering through it, you'd be thinking, "I'd better be getting some. Dear God, I had better be getting some."

Is there even one car chase in the entire movie? Does Ewan McGregor pull out an AK-47 and start blasting up the joint? Does Renee Zelwegger have any nude scenes?

Is anybody going to see this movie?

That's the weird thing. There are usually sub-plots for the girls tacked onto guy flicks (such as the love story in The Matrix movies), but why the hell don't they ever tack on guy sub-plots in these stupid chick flicks?

Come on, Renee. Take off your top, sell a few more tickets.

Well Pearl Harbor or True Romance are good examples of what you might be looking for there. Essentially a chick flick with violence and so on.

If Film Comment put this movie on its latest cover it has to have something worth watching.

I'm seeing it as a free preview in two hours. What can I say? I'll see almost anything if it's free.

This looks like a '40s-style romance movie.

'60s, actually. They're emulating the "sex-romps" of Doris Day and Rock Hudson. Even going so far as using rescued backdrops and skylines back from that era.

I'm really looking forward to this film.

And that, my friends, is the most Liberace thing I have ever said.

OK, I'll admit I'm also planning to see it. It looks like it's got a lot of style.
