Considering her husband's behavior leading up to that scene, doing something just to piss him off seems reasonable. I doubt she cared too much about whether Neo and the others survived. |
This whole sequence was my favorite part of the movie. Here's my thoughts, questions, and possibilities about what's going on:
- That kiss means something....wayyyy too much emphasis placed on it. That, or it's nothing more than a woman envious of Trinity. - The "French Guy" - man I loved this character. Much like Joey Pant's character in the first one, he's just content with a world were he can fulfill his pleasures. - Another thing about him, and the movie. It's hard not to think of the Bible while watching this. Did anyone think of the "French Guy" as a Lucifer character, and the architect as God? He makes many statements to having been around for each of Neo's predecessors. The oracle also tells Neo about people doing what they're not supposed to. They appear as angels, ghosts, WEREWOLVES, etc. Basically, rulebreakers. Renegade programs. Some of these rulebreakers are the French Guy's henchcman (like Werevolves), who are killed with a silver bullet (Monica Belluci "how many people do you know that carry a gun loaded with Silver Bullets" BANG) -These "fallen angels" are working with "Lucifer" for their own fulfillments and purposes (outcast from "God"/"The Architechts" kingdom). They would rather do so than follow his commands (ie. be an Agent, or some other form of order and control). Ok, I've went into a whole other post :) |
The whole order and so seems a bit odd. Look at it this way...
Frenchy was in the same building that held the source door (On a floor no elevator can get to and filled with bombs.. just like neo said in the elevator earlier). the floor frenchie was on was 101. a key number in this film as we see. odd how this "lucifer" character is in the same building as the gate to "god". I really don't want to think that he was a "one" at one point but it does sort of make sense. he sets people free through choice #1 and throughout the centeries he just grows to hate everything about the free world and it's lack of choices and just returns to the matrix with the mentality of "Better to be a god in hell then a slave in heaven". though his lack of fighting neo or the ability to use anything other then magic cake seems a bit odd. If he was a previous "one" does he just want neo to go and complete his mission? or would he have done something to fight neo as they stole the key maker? A lot of questions indeed. |
Originally posted by thephantom See, I think you were right the first time for several reason's. ". Then the process of finding the next anomaly(and creating the next revision) begins again. So in my view of it, The One is really just another program himself. The Merovingian never says how many of the others he's seen, and at the time we have no idea that there's been five versions. Or lets say the Matrix doesn't want him to leave, and sucks him in instead. Then it gives him the job of watching over the various Keymasters through the years, in exchange for letting him do what he wants beyond fullfilling that duty. This would explain his contact with the other Ones, and the fact that the Matrix seems to tolerate his existance. Ok, I'm still kind of mad that I have to do all of this thinking with my summer popcorn movie. But, it does have me talking about it more than any other and making me want to see it several more times. |
Wow, everyone's calling him the keymaster. Never underestimate the power of Ghostbusters.

Would you be able to ignore a woman such as this? http://whatisthematrix.warnerbros.co...eloaded_13.jpg |
I find myself agreeing with thephantom.
Both the merovengian and his wife refer to him as being like neo. Also, the oracle refers to him as both a program AND a man. "What do all men with power want... more power." He also knows the "why" they are looking for the keymaker, while neo doesn't yet. Also, the comment from his wife to trinity about "I envy you, but such a thing is not meant to last" was interesting and telling -- of what seems to be at least a deal having been made. Like cypher was trying to in the first matrix ... "... and I want to be somebody famous, like an actor." Also, picking the door on Neo's right (in the architect's room) would have been submitting to control in exchange for a small amount of control... "picking 23 humans to repopulate Zion" so perhaps he was a previous "one" ... who had encountered the other 4 "anomolies" -- and had received a degree of control in exchange for a certain amount of cooperation. |
The thing that resonates with me is the Oracle stating that "they all have their purpose".
Now if this means that the previous "ones" were given a place within the Matrix to be prepared for future "ones", I cannot figure out. Given the option of death or the Matrix, they chose the Matrix, fully knowing that it was a losing battle to fight the machines. So many questions, so many questions. |

But the Architect is the creator.. and so in this sense of the word... he is indeed god of the matrix.

Well, from the human's point of view, that case isn't all that hard to make. :)

Gnosticism and the role of the Architect
I’m not sure why we are blacking out these comments since this thread is already full of spoilers. It’s been awhile since I looked into Gnosticism, but it seems to me that
