teenage mutant ninja turtles 4!

sorry if this has been talked about before cuz the links are kinda old but i just read these today and i am psyched (if this actually comes out!):

http://www.cinescape.com/0/Editorial...e&obj_id=27322

http://www.cinescape.com/0/Editorial...e&obj_id=34866

they are gonna use CG on the turtles, which is fine (i like the real actors better but this could work) but i really hope they tailor this movie to people who grew up on TMNT...generally older people in their 20s (like me). dont make this a kiddy movie cuz it shouldnt be! kids probably never heard of them.

make it dark (like daredevil), make the action AMAZING, please dont make the CG corny, and please please please let them kill people!

i swear, leonardo didnt hurt anyone in those movies even though he had swords!! like wtf??

anyways, i hope this comes out and kicks ass. i loved TMNT 1 and 2 (still do!) and have the dvds (not 3 though...that kinda sucked) but this would be great...especially with all the comic book movies coming out recently.

if you notice these stories are years old; it has been confirmed that these projects are dead. sorry to spoil your fun.

woo said he was interested in PRODUCING, but it ultimately didn't pan out.

perhaps if the cartoon leads to a comeback of some sorts...MAYBE one day we'll see the idea revisited. but it's highly doubtful

I'll only go see it if Corey Feldman returns.

I like how you said not to make it for kids, but then you turn around and say to make it like Daredevil

daredevil wasnt made FOR kids although they could still watch it (wasnt R) which is the same as what TMNT should have been. you think for kids is only barney-type of movies? or not for kids only means basic instinct?

but thanks UK for letting me know. bummer.

well i meant 'dark' relatively speaking. daredevil was 'dark' compared to say spiderman...both were comic book movies but the difference was apparant. i dont want TMNT dark like the crow. thats too much and would ruin the whole premise. but it aint happenin anyways

Please.

Considering the Turtles were inspired by/parodies of Frank Miller's Dareveil comics, making it like Daredevil would be a good idea.

Actually, I do want TMNT to be as dark as the Crow. I feel it fits right in with the original comic books.

But I understand your comparison to Daredevil. Seeing the origins are tied into each other.

Spoiler:
The isotope that blinds Matt falls into the sewer and transforms Splinter and the turtles

I wonder how much my TMNT books are worth now

Don't forget that the Foot is an indirect spoof on the Hand.

But I agree a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie should be done in like manner as The Crow. The biggest and best joke of the original comic book series (made quite clear by the first issue) is that it takes itself desperately seriously despite it's ridiculous premise.

I would loveto see a series of four (and no more than four) movies based on the original comics and have the fourth movie be an adaptation of the "Return to New York" storyline
Spoiler:
complete with a decapitated Shredder.
The first movie was mostly successful (it even mananged to cater to both fans of the original comics AND kids weanedon the animated series) in this attempt but it really would have worked better as a series of movies with a clear end in mind.

But having the film be akin to The Crow now would be a difficult undertaking due to the new animated series. True it's closer to the original comic books than the old animated series was but studios might be too tempted to cater exclusively to little kids and go as far as making the movie even more tame than the new animated series. Even a Daredevil approach might be difficult since that film was also envisionedto be just like The Crow until it was deemed by Fox that the film should not be that violent and have a more marketable PG-13 instead.

I wish I was already established as a writer/director and had enough clout to make four part series of TMNT movies like I described.

ok first of all, the issue at hand is not how dark it should have been (that was just a suggestion...it doesnt make or break the movie). however, since the movie isnt coming out at all, whats the point?

id rather it come out like the crow (that dark) than not come out at all though.

http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian.../ntempire.html

Though quite outdated, this site claims the script for the fourth film was the following: http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian...screenplay.zip

I read it a couple of years back when I found it by pure chance. The idea is good but it needs several rewrites and a polish before it would have been anywhere near ready.
Spoiler:
It just kind of loses focus during the all too short second act (which I consider to be a totally missed opportunity to develop the villains instead of leaving them as stereotypical chinese gangsters) and there's not enough time spent by the leads dwelling on and lamenting the big twist in the story (again an act two problem). There also this little kid who shows up early and promises to contribute to the development of one of the characters but then he disappears until the very end when he pops up again.
I also felt it lacked a certain sense of maturity for a story that was written with the intent of it being taken seriously.
Spoiler:
Just read some of Raph's lines towards the end and Leo's line stolen from The Crow really made me cringe.

Still, there is enough potential within this screenplay (though I personally feel it may just be a fanfic in screenplay form) that could have been salvaged.

These films can't be dark for one simple reason.. it was targeted as a kid's show back then aswell as now. even if the original source is dark, aslong as the american public has higher box office intakes from a pg-13 crowd, we will see films targeted towards kids whenever possible.

Jackskeleton, you speak a sad truth. That's why I said in one of my previous posts that there being a new animated series is unfortunate. Though the first film managed to work around that (catering to both crowds and becoming the highest grossing independant feature at the time) I have a feeling if a movie was made now the producers would ignore the formula that made the first film so successful and make something more akin to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation. Despite how good the new animated series is (excluding that horrible opening theme song) and the fact that it follows the original comics more closely than the older animated series did, it would have been better that the new animated series never happened at all. Then the original comics could have been reprinted and gotten more of a push in comic stores to get the general public more accustomed to the original material and then a darker movie would have been acceptable. Sadly, that is no longer possible for the time being.
