the last paragraph isn't really a spoiler just a summation of his impressions so nobody should have a problem reading it
at one point the reviewer predicts, despite the films shortcomings that he sees, it will likely do $100 mil the first weekend and go on to a $300 mil gross domestically.
also- highly positive, non-spoilerish review over at Dark Horizons.
i thought for sure people were being a little too optimistic regarding the financial success of this film, especially in a packed summer like this.
the material still leaves me a little cold, but i have to admit, it looks like i really underestimated the appeal here.
Unlike "The Matrix," all fights and stunts ....have a disturbing tendency to repeat intricately choreographed action. Thus, computer technology and overkill supplant the ingenuity of the original film's action. How this strategy of raising the bar in special effects and annotating most nonaction scenes with philosophical and mythological references will pay off in the final chapter may ultimately validate the Wachowski brothers' choices in this film. (After "Revolutions") much of "Reloaded" may resonate in ways we can now only imagine.

Most of the reviews posted on Dark Horizons have been mixed/negative. I think I only saw 1 or 2 positive reviews.

I'm just amazed that Honeycutt thinks that the first Matrix is up to the level of "Metropolis," "2001" and "Blade Runner." That ruins his legitimacy there. Don't get me wrong, the Matrix was an okay movie. I'd say it's more action-oriented than philosophical.
I'll go into Reloaded with an open mind. I'm not a "Matrix fan" but I'm willing to give it a chance. If it's at least like Blade 2 then I'll enjoy myself.
