I really don't see why people feel the need to bash an actor/actresses in the first place, if you don't like them, then don't talk about them and ignore them. That's what I do. :)

personally adding:<b>Minnie Driver</b> to the list.

Halle Berry in On-Set Argument with Director

Oscar-winner Halle Berry has told the director of her new film to "kiss my black a*s" following a bust-up on the set of X-Men 2. Halle's outburst occurred after director Bryan Singer allegedly accused the cast - which also includes Patrick Stewart and Rebecca Romjin-Stamos - of not sticking up for him following an argument with the film's producer. Tempers flared after Singer was allegedly given a painkiller by his driver that rendered him unable to finish filming. Producer Tom De Santo then reportedly threatened to fire the driver. But when Singer heard of the threat he tried to get De Santo dismissed from the film. But an insider says, "All the actors decided to call the studio and say that if Tom leaves, they're leaving too. Singer then confronted the actors and berated them."

Yeah...that's horrible.

Who's she think she is, anyway...

Do you make a beeping sound when you back up like that? :)

More Halle Berry + Mild Spoilers for Monster's Ball

Have you seen her in the Money Train?! Oh wait, you wouldn't want to see that. :D

Since Halle is popular in this thread, I'll say that I don't hate her as an actress. I like leaving the bits of reality IN reality for the most part. FTR, I didn't even watch the Academy Awards when she took home the Oscar, but I concur with all (for the nth time) that she truly can't act for ****. I too concluded and back everyone who states that her acting in Monster's Ball was overrated. There are many roles in movies out there that take barely any true acting ability; I'm sure she could fulfill them easily. As for her role in James Bond: Die Another Day... I think she was the ideal Bond Girl for THIS particular Bond movie--Die Another Day was massively flawed, but it was hella mindless fun. Most Bond women are two-dimensional or less... unless they are alter ego characters--Michelle Yeoh's role in Tomorrow Never Dies, then they are given JUUUST a little more to work with. (You can see why Famke Janssen was disappointed with the role of Xena Onatopp.)

Back to Halle though, it doesn't take much to play a flat character. (Side Note: Monster's Ball was only a *decent* drama at the most... sans the sex scene.) Her character in Monster's Ball was supposed to be completely three-dimensional or REALISTIC. She never became that character no matter how much she wailed, sobbed, slapped, flirted, smiled, grunted, or donned a look of shock. I personally thought the sex scene was a bit gratuitous only because it's not at all impacting considering Halle's overall performance in the film; if she's noticably "fake" everywhere, then watching her rut away for ten minutes is like being forced to watch a widescreen porno--that being that the sex is empty. It's overall, little more than a protracted distraction that you can't avoid.

I watched the award screener version of the movie so a few scenes were labeled "For Your Consideration";the last consideration scene was a part where Halle's character had to look fearful, shocked, and confused:

Spoiler:
this was the part after her character realized Billy Bob Thorton's character's son had executed her husband.

What's sad is that when I watched that scene, a mental image of the director saying, "Halle, you want to be fearful, confused, and shocked right now!" completely interrupted the mood. If this makes sense, I was kicked out of the movie for the nth time but Billy Bob Thorton's performance helped me back in and smoothed things over for a proper conclusion. Her performance was just so contrived I wanted to gag myself with spoon and thankfull, the movie wasn't ruined beyond repair only because Billy Bob Thorton managed to salvage all that was worthwhile. Still, I can't say that I loathe Halle Berry because acting like hers is so ubiquitous that you'd have to hate most everyone else's too, right?

***
Unable to follow suit: ATM, I can't think of any substantial actor other than salient ones that just won't go away (i.e. Ben Affleck, JBlow, etc.).

Dragonslayer 05-28-03 12:29 PM

Halle Berry in "Monster's Ball" is the best female acting performance I ever seen
I thought that the film was pretty good & that Halle did a decent job. But I can think of a number of female performances that are much, much better. Perhaps you have not seen a lot of films or older films.

BuckeyeDawg 05-28-03 01:23 PM

I have to give nods to Jennifer Lopez for the all of the aforemention comments.

Amen to Ben Affleck: I hate Matt Damon for allowing him to ride Matt's coattails to success. Matt is actually a pretty good actor, while Ben has a tendency to well, just basically take up space.

One I would like to throw in the ring: Leonardo DiCRAPrio. His performances are questionable at best. Normally, any decent film he is (which are few) are a product of the performances and direction around him.

Jaymole 05-28-03 01:40 PM

I hate Halle Berry with a passion, an obnoxious, self importnat, and egotistical actress who thinks that the world revolves around her. If it wasn't for her looks she would be just another actress on the unemployment line.

What triggered this - interviews she has given, appearances on talk shows, her flight from an accident, Oscar speech...

Movies she's ruined - X-Men & X-Men 2; she has the authority of a 5th grade crossing guard. Why oh why couldn't they have gotten Angela Bassett!

NCMojo 05-28-03 02:05 PM

But Jay, seriously, what do you think? C'mon, admit it -- you've secretly got a thing for her, right? Come on...

I still say Halle's career has a long way to go, and she has a bunch more films to ruin, before she reaches the exalted status of, say, a Keanu Reeves. I thought she was at least average in X-Men; frankly, if an actresses personality ruined their movies for me, half of Hollywood would be on my "no" list.

Jaymole 05-28-03 02:31 PM

ncmojo

I'm actually pretty accepting of almost all actors & actresses.

There are actually no other actresses that I would bash besides Halle. I'm not a big fan of J-Lo or Julia Roberts but I can watch a movie they're in with no problem. She's the only one I can bash, I just find her non-believable in most of her roles.

As for actors, Affleck, Stallone & Sandler are the ones that make me cringe but that's it.

ChiefJustice001 05-28-03 04:51 PM

I have no comment on Halle Berry's personality and I have never seen Monster's Ball.

Someone raised an interesting point here:

Forget the non-existent color barrier: When will some fat cow of an actress win an Oscar, even if she's very talented?

Initially, the problem for this hypothetical heifer would be to get her a leading role....unless the script was about fat women...and in that case, I doubt it would be a big money maker....

oop 05-28-03 05:09 PM

I just hate Jeff Goldblum

he totally ruined ID4/Jurassic Park/Lost World: lost world for me

3 movies i was really looking forward too but all three end up sucking because he was in it.

CptObvious 05-28-03 05:16 PM

Chris Klein

I struggled to include him in this post, calling him an "actor" is severely pushing it. No examples are needed, speaks for itself

Dragonslayer 05-28-03 05:30 PM

When will some fat cow of an actress win an Oscar, even if she's very talented?
It happened quite early on, but as it occurred 70+ yrs ago you probably were not aware of it. The actress was Marie Dressler & she won for "Min and Bill" for the 1930/1931 period.

BuckeyeDawg 05-29-03 07:32 AM

Chief Justice001 - Kathy Bates won an Oscar in 1990 for Misery. Now, I won't call her excessively obese, but I certainly won't call her thin. She wasn't thin when she did the movie, and She's not what I call attractive... and the script was not written about a fat person. (never read the book though)

LiquidSky 05-29-03 08:08 AM

Tara Reid. Vapid and untalented. Will most likely disappear from films in a few years.

Probably around the same time that people stop using expressions like "fat cow" to describe obese women.

And as for the "nonexistent" color barrier -- yeah right, tell you what, let's cast Denzel and Julia in another film together and give them a hot love scene. Will not happen. Not in a major studio release.

Both statements are sad, sad, sad, considering we're now several years into the 21st century.

Yeah I think Vivica Fox could have played a much better red x. This thread brings back memories. Rocky_Stallone  , how did we ever let a gem like this guy get banned?

*Name the person...
Drew Barrymore

*State Grievance with this performer...
The movies she has produced and acted in are absolutely unwatchable with the sole exception of E.T. It's not just that I don't like her physically (although I don't), but her smarmy personality makes me roll my eyes.

*What triggered this emotion....
Watching her overly cutsie and self-important demeanor in interviews and especially during all the CHARLIE'S ANGELS hoopla.

* Movies they ruined on you....
THE WEDDING SINGER (as if Sandler wasn't bad enough), both ANGELS flicks (the worst big budget movies I have ever seen), NEVER BEEN KISSED, EVERYONE SAYS I LOVE YOU

(Incidentally, the wife rented those movies, otherwise I would have avoided them.)

Tommy_Harn 10-14-03 08:34 PM

Holy lord! Thank you oop!

Jeff Goldblum is easily the worst actor around. I can't imagine casting for a film and thinking "Goldblum is a fine actor with star power. I'll give him a call."

Granted his lines in ID4 and the Lost World were horrible to begin with, but his delievery sealed their fate as some of the worst dialogue in American film history.

Is it any wonder we don't see him in much anymore?

tdilia 10-14-03 10:23 PM

Barbara Streisand

In love with herself.
Every year has a farewell tour, then sell the tickets at five grand a pop.
S%&*ty actress (if you would consider her an actress)
Overrated as an actress, I don't think she has ever made a decent flick.
Plain and simple, SHE IS A BITCH.
