Malibu's Most Wanted gets 3 stars in baltimore sun?

They gave I think 2 stars to "bringing down the house" which is a similar movie,

here are the positive snipits from the review
Malibu's Most Wanted mines a well-worn comedic vein, but does so with a consistent good humor and surprisingly deft touch. It's hardly the funniest, most refreshing piece of comedy in years, but as a satire of the mass-media stereotypes Hollywood consistently foists on its black characters, it'll more than do.
As the two actors whose knowledge of the streets is limited to what they've seen on prime-time TV (at least that's a step better than B-Rad, who's lifted his knowledge from BET), Taye Diggs and Anthony Anderson are the best things about Malibu's Most Wanted. Both are clearly having a blast with the stereotypes they've been asked to adopt; truth is, they're as clueless about how to act as B-Rad, and Anderson and Diggs are far better actors.
There's a lot that could be offensive about this movie, but the atmosphere is just too genial to be taken seriously. The laughs are genuine, if frequently obvious. Malibu's Most Wanted is filled with characters called upon to act against type, finding its humor by juxtaposing what audiences expect with what the characters actually do. There's plenty of fun to be had, watching all those fish flopping about on dry land.
Is the movie actually funny, or is this reviwer on crack?
Fo shizzil, my nizzil."

I like Jamie Kennedy, I might have to rent this someday. Or wait for it on cable.

I watched it last night in an employee screening. It's ok. The first half hour or so is hilarious along with a few other parts in the after that. But there isn't much else, not worth the $8. They had a trailer for Jeepers Creepers 2 as well which looks horrible.

I'd have to agree that the first half of the movie was really hilarious...and then it just fizzled out... I really like JKX and the character, but he couldn't support a whole movie... the first half did have more laughs than a lot of other recent comedies (bringing down the house...even anger management). It's worth a rental or a cheap matinee if you're a fan of kennedy... certainly not as terrible as some people have been expecting, but not as great either...

I saw that Ebert gave it a decent review. The 5 minute skits he does with the character on the tv show are pretty damn funny. I was surprised to see they turned that skit into a movie though.
