Oh man, this movie was great. Just watched it (uncut version) for the first time. Excellent, two thumbs up.

I second the two films you mentioned. But have to add "Anywhere But Here". Portman was nothing short of amazing in this film.

Nope, that is incorrect. And no, there is no 'sexual stuff' as such. See the movie.

Oh, and yes, it really is that good.

Gary Oldman is awesome in this flick. Glad I could add such a quality post to this thread.

watched the international version, and I really enjoyed it. I am guessing the cut scenes are
the "sniper" scene
the scene where she tells Leon that she loves him
any and all shots where she is holding a gun
the scene where she
Spoiler:
threatens to kill her self, but doesn't when Leon moves the gun away at the last min.

and
the scene where she wants him to sleep in the same bed.

- the restaurant scene where Matilda gets drunk and tries to kiss Leon
- the scene where Matilda pays off the kids in the alley
- the scene where Leon talks about why he came here and Matilda's "first time"

Not that my vote will matter in this sea of Leon worship, but I thought the movie sucked, and sucked bad.

My friends badgered me non-stop to watch it. I finally did, and quit halfway through because I thought it was so horrible.

They convinced me to give it another try, so I watched it all the way through.

Henry Rollins had a great bit about instead of suing people for money, you should be able to sue them for time to be added on to your life. Leon made me want to sue all my friends for time, because that's about 90 minutes of my life I'll never have back.

I've always found this movie disturbing, and not in a good way. It's like Travis Bickle's wet dream.

you still haven't said what you didn't like about it or what sucked or what was so bad. Sounds like you're exaggerating.

It's a way better revenge story than the highly overarated, (IMO), "Kill Bill"

It's got a solid plot and some very good character development.

It's in my top ten for sure.

Well, I'll throw my opinion into to the pot. This movie is a comic book put on film, plan and simple. Not that, that is a bad thing, because the movie does have some really interesting elements, but I when I saw it I just couldn't get into it.

I'd say it's worth watching, definately, but I wouldn't own it.

It is certainly a great film and my single favorite. It has everything I look for in a film. I can watch it forever. I just completely lose myself in the story everytime, and the ending always gets me. The acting is topnotch all around. I hope they can somehow make a sequel, but only if Besson directs, which gets more unlikely as the days pass. If there isn't though, I won't complain, it is perfect by itself.

I'll chime in late, though it doesn't seem to matter since Rypro has finally seen it.

I thought it was a great movie. Natalie Portman steals the show every time she's on screen and steals your heart. Jean Reno was cool and perfect. Gary Oldman was a perfect psycho (damn, he plays those roles really well).

Someone mentioned in one of the "What sequel would you watch?" threads, that it'd be cool if Natalie Portman reprised her role as Matilda and was a cleaner in a second installment of Leon (although I guess they couldn't call it Leon 2...maybe they could call it Matilda ). I think that'd be kick ass!

That was in the works at one point, with the exact same title that you suggested.

That's pretty much how I feel.

I think it's a good movie, but nowhere near my top 10, or top 100 for that matter. Good enough for me to own, but I don't put it nearly as high as most of the others in this thread

I'll definitely put it as one of my favorites...top 10% of my collection at least.

That easily puts it within the top 100!

Leon is *****in awesome, and TP is still very good. But make sure you see Leon. Yes, it IS that good.

PS: according to the mods, p-h-u-k is a naughty word. oops, i feel horrible now.
