How can Skynet exist if the chip and arm were destroyed?
According to the classical, single timeline/universe view, it is impossible -- unless Cyberdyne Systems develops Skynet technology independently of any help from the future.
Assuming the existence of a multiverse of timelines, this situation can also be explained. In the universe in which we see the Terminator technology destroyed, Skynet will never exist. However, there must exist at least one timeline/universe in which Skynet technology is developed. This may occur due to: a) Cyberdyne independently creating the technology, or b) Terminator remains originating from yet another timeline are left behind. Thus, the movies must chronicle two different universes: one with the hellish future dominated by Skynet, the other is the one saved by Sarah and John.

Precisely, which returns me to my comment earlier that if there's a timeline B to rape for unnecessary and self-indulgent sequels, then there'll be a timeline C, D, E, and so on, ad nauseum...out of respect for the narrative "perfection" of Cameron's two films, the series should have stopped before it becomes deprived of all the dignity Cameron worked so hard to bestow upon it...

I don't think so....if T3 sucks major ass, its not going in anyway effect the quality of the first two. Do Godfather 1 and 2, suffer any in quality because of 3?

As do JAWS 3 and 4...or SUPERMAN 3 or 4...of course, since they are seperate entities from the earlier two films in their respective franchises, they can't directly affect the quality of the earlier efforts, but having said that, it is still pretty hard to shake the memory of those later failures when you're trying to enjoy the good entries...as much as we try to wipe them clean from our memories, the later parts do have a sullying effect, ethereal and indirect though it may be, on the earlier films...

Oh, but ALIEN 3 rocked! It was ALIEN RESURRECTION that began to suck the ALIEN franchise dry...

I'm glad they kept the tradition of having the visitor from the future naked when they arrive

Besides the impaling, there is the cursing (lots of F bombs, sh**, and all the rest), lots of shooting and death, remember Dyson? He gets shot in the shoulder, bleeding profusely, then shot to hell later on in the building. Tons of gunfire, children in danger. Swat members getting shot in their legs left and right. Mild nudity. Gore on the Terminator. Forty years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanoes, riots in the streets, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria! Rated R for nonstop action sequences. Err, yeah.

I haven't watched T2 in a while but doesn't Arnold lose an arm before he kills the other terminator?

He does lose an arm but a) it is pulverized into unrecognizability and utter uselessness, and b) the arm (by reasonable assumption) contains no software, only metal/plastic mechanisms, not far removed at all from the kind of robotic limbs we can already create today...

Not to thread crap or anything but this movie looks like a remake of the T2 with a female antagonist. Arnie comes back to protect John from bad Terminator.

Well i guess some of this is a joke..but there isn't a lot of dying in T2. Everybody gets shot in the kneecap but very few are killed. The only people I can remember getting killed are:

1.) Cop who responds to T-1000 is impaled..nothing graphic is shown, mostly off-screen
2.) Guy with Pepsi can in mall gets killed when Arnie and T-1000 get into a shootout (Semi-graphic)
3.) John's Adopted Parents (One off-screen, One graphic)
4.) Guard at Vending Machine (Graphic)
5.) Cop on motorcycle (Inferred that he is killed, not shown)
6.) Dyson

That's all I can think of.

Finally! Sheesh, it took me forever to figure out how to save this as a qt file so I could watch if off-line [makes cross w/fingers to ward off broadband vultures] and I must say, though perhaps it does constitute a form of sacrilege, it looks like a great Summer blockbuster, perhaps even best.popcorn.flick.ever

most pg13 movies don't show the hit of the bullets or if it does, it isn't graphic. Even though they do get shot in the knee caps, it is quite gory.

Well, it isn't like the second was a huge deviation from the first, either.
