Polanski on Brody: "He's a punk."

This is really weird. Apparently Roman Polanski is pretty pissed at Adrien Brody for not being mentioned in his acceptance speech. "He's a punk. I want nothing more to do with him. Never ever will I work with him again." Pretty harsh words. heres the link http://www.nypost.com/avantgo/avantgossip/72810.htm

What a selfish prick. He's just mad that he can't come to the ceremony. Maybe raping another teenager will make him feel better.

It's hardly breaking news that Brody is a punk:

Well I'll be honest and step up for Polanski, I would've probably felt the same anger if I worked hard and put my trust in a nobody and made him what he is today, and got no thanks in return, it was indeed pretty selfish of Brody...I understand that he may have forgotten during his speech, but c'mon shouldn't it have been a priority to remember that at least?

If its true, i could care less what Polanski wants to say. Brody is a 'punk' so to speak, i saw him on Last Call with Carson Daly... he's pretty much like kid... into Hip Hop and what not. Which is pretty cool to me

Yep..the rapist made Brody what he is today..

Woody Allen, Francis Ford Coppola, William Friedkin, Terrence Malick, Spike Lee, and Barry Levinson had nothing whatsoever to do with his development as an actor..

And seeing as how none of us here on DVD Talk have won an oscar [At least to my knowledge..], who knows what was going through his mind while accepting..

Perhaps he was reeling from Halle's lips..?

And just because the item has appeared in two separate newspapers , doesn't necessarily make it true..

I seem to remember that Brody DID thank Polanski is his speech.
Unfortunately I erased my tape of the Oscars, so I cant verify it.

The article is, to put it in DVDTalk terms, ********. Here's an excerpt from Brody's acceptance speech, from www.oscar.com:
This film would not be possible without the blue print provided by Wladyslaw Szpilman. This is a tribute to his survival. I'd like to thank Roman Polanski for the role of a lifetime. And for those of you who have seen the film and have sat through the credits, you know there are too many people to thank individually.

* [Two most recent examples..Paramount's "Top Gun" SE & a release date for FOX's "Alien Quadrilogy"..]

page 6...ugh...this is total fabrication. in fact, i heard on The View (at least more reliable than page 6...) that Polanski said he was so excited jumping up and down that he didn't even really hear Brody's speech...he then went on to say that there would be no Pianist without Brody's contributions. seeing that Brody *DID* in fact thank Polanski, i would assume their report is just a little bit more accurate.

so i sure hope nobody really believes this...
page 6 guys, page 6

I refuse to believe this especially when Brody was one of the major advocates of the 'Polanski ain't so bad' campaign.

This was probably Polanski joking and then being quoted as saying it seriously.

On a tangent, all the Polanski haters need to shut up. I wouldn't mind it if Polanski bashing had gone on for years on this forum, but the fact is that no one ever posted a single thing about it for years. All his biggest movies came out on DVD and no one said a thing. Then the Oscar nom and everyone jumps on the bandwagon to bash him. Face it, before E! or page 6 told you, you didn't even know about the statutory rape, because I never heard a peep about it on here, even when his name came up all the time.

What more can Polanski do to dispel people's distaste for him?

Almost as bad as trying to get real reporting from the national enquirer or is the post not as bad?
