That's "Stainboy", an online cartoon of Burton's imagining. It was supposed to be adapted into a film, back when "Undercover Brother" and "Li'l Pimp" were also greenlit.

As long as Nicholas Cage is still not doing Superman, the world is still safe.

This is actually really old news. First off, I know Warner's wants Superman to start shooting this year but Burton is busy with "Big Fish," which is supposed to be released this Christmas. Secondly, Burton was attached to Superman a while ago, with Nic Cage attached to star and Pittsburgh passing as Metropolis but for numerous reasons, including producer Jon Peter, Burton left the project. Lastly, Burton hasn't worked with Warner's in years cause there is a lot of animosity between him and the studio over "Mars Attacks!" back in the mid-nineties. It actually got to a point a few years ago that Warner's was tossing around a sequel/prequel idea for Beetlejuice and wanted Michael Keaton to come back. Keaton said he was game as long as Burton Directed. After that you didn't hear much about that project anymore.

As you can tell I am a Burton fan so I follow his career pretty closely. I am really looking forward to "Big Fish," which is being described in some circles as his "Forrest Gump," but I would like to see Burton do Stainboy next.

I think this would be great if the Studios keep their hands out of it.
Remember Planet of the Apes?

I totally agree. If Warner's hires a director that can actually handle a movie like Superman and Jon Peter, who does have a reputation as a meddler, leaves the project the movie actually has a chance of being good. Of course there will also need to be a re-write in there somewhere.

Now back on topic. Tim Burton is the type of Director that does his best work when the studio lets him work. FOX was so meddlesome with Planet of the Apes that it was doomed to fail, eventhough it made a ton of money, before shooting even started. If he had the power Burton would've made it totally different. FOX treated POTA like the WB is treating Superman...the difference is FOX picked the right director and cast WB hasn't yet. Well see.

I remember listening to an interview with Burton and he seemed very bitter towards Fox, and the internet (for giving away the surprise ending).

Hopefully he'll get artistic freedom when directing Big Fish.
