When I watched it the first time I thought it was quite boring. It wasn't until the second time that I realised how good it was.

Yep I also got thirsty watching it.

I think it may be my favorite of the "classic" historical epics from the '50s and '60s ("Ben Hur," "Spartacus," that sort of thing.) I remember the first time I watched it, it was a bit hard to get into, but every time I've watched it since I like it a little more. There are few three 1/2 to four hour movies that speed by, but this one definitely doesn't seem as long to me as it is. Peter O'Toole is just amazing, for this role alone he deserved an honorary Oscar, and the scenery, I think, may just be the best cinematography I've ever seen in a movie. Just an amazing film, one that hasn't aged a bit IMHO.

It's long and difficult to get through, in my opinion, but that's pretty much my only complaint. It is relatively engaging for the most part, and I think Peter O'Toole does a great job. Clearly, the story isn't going to interest everyone, but I think it's one of the better 'historical epics' out there. But I prefer Bridge on the River Kwai in terms of Lean films.

Ooo, forgot about Bridge on the River Kwai. I'd have a hard time choosing between the two, frankly. Alec Guinness' performance was just stunning, and there's more traditional "action" and forward plot motion in Kwai, it's less meditative than Lawrence is. Apples and oranges, really, you can't go wrong with either movie, that's for sure.

I love this movie. I was fortunate enough to see the restored version in the theaters; the imagery, the score, the characters, and of course the larger than life story were captivating. I enjoy the DVD, but I feel this is one of those flicks that demands the big screen, movie house experience.

I had never seen the film until it's first DVD release. I can't believe I missed out for so long. Not only is the film a masterpiece, but the score is also excellent. The music adds so much more to the film.

Is that the only comment you have after watching what is considered to be one of the best films of all time, or could you expand a bit?

I got bored the first couple of times I watched it. But after some time, the movie started to get into me. It is a long movie, but I found it to be a plus, since I enjoyed the movie very much. And pass me that canteen, please.

i had to bring it down a notch. this movie was not bad by any stretch but it did not hold my attention as much as other films. many of the scenes were too long for my taste. i'm probably going to get flamed as i am the onlt one to post anything bad about the film, but oh well. i don't mind.

best blind buy ever for me, I think its one of the best epic action adventure movies of all time

also one of the most "real" films I have seen, theres nothing that takes you out of the movie, such as digital effects or mat paintings etc, which is rare amongst epic films such as lawrence

LOA and Apocalypse Now have the best cinematography ever in movie history. This is one of my fav. movies but 3:39 is quite a load.

It's a great movie to watch on a snowy, winter afternoon. I think this is one of the greatest movies ever made, and O'Toole's performance is one of the half dozen greatest performances ever by an actor. Absolutely incredible. It also has some of my favorite movie quotes ever, the best being, "The catch is, not minding that it hurts."

And, yes, I get thirsty once or twice...
