Of those Spielberg, but I like Akira Kurosaw, Lars Von Trier and David Lynch.

Well,You'll be very Hard-Pressed to tell Scorsese,Tarantino or any of those other dir. to come up with their own True cinematic vision of "DUMB & DUMBER". :D

Out of that list...for me, Kubrick for sure...had you put David Lynch on that list I might have had to think twice...but then I probably would have still chosen Kubrick...maybe.. :)

pagos77 02-24-03 03:15 PM

Also...no Coen Bros. ??? A lot of people around these parts are big fans!

Hokeyboy 02-24-03 03:58 PM

The Farrely Bros. don't even deserve to be in this poll.

No Terry Gilliam either? Blasphemy!

Ditto.

Overall, though, I'd probably say Robert Zemeckis.

CCGoldRush 02-24-03 04:24 PM

Akira Kurosawa
Alfred Hitchcock
Michael Powell
Francois Truffaut
Federico Fellini
Michael Curtiz

Kashmir 02-24-03 04:30 PM

Martin Scorsese

I voted Kubrick as he was most consistent with his material, but I am a huge fan of Scorsese as well.

Showing promise with a nice set of movies is P.T. Andersen and Fincher (minus the Alien cubed stint).

Wong Kar-Wai was a recent discovery - In the Mood for Love sent me in search of all of his other work - very good.

Kal-El 02-24-03 04:46 PM

What, no Luca$? ;)

I voted Spielberg

Out of that list, I would have to say Spielberg. Heck, out of any list I would probably say Spielberg. I know a lot of people can't stand his work, but more of his films are among my favorites than any other director I can think of.

Empire of the Sun
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
E. T.
Saving Private Ryan
Schindler's List
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Jaws

I really liked his last two films, too, Minority Report and Catch Me If You Can. These were exceptional after the debacle that was A. I.

Martin Scorscece

MarcinL 02-25-03 08:20 AM

wow, Where is Michael Bay, I'm into action but come on, and also No Oliver Stone, no Ridley Scott, no Polanski?

paradicelost 02-25-03 08:28 AM

out of those Fincher. But i was always into Fritz Lang.
Off subject but am the only one who cannot stand Spielberg(i starting to think there is something wrong with me). Though i think his time with Kubrick helped him out quite a bit. I was shocked that i actually liked Catch me if you Can.

Norm de Plume 02-25-03 12:48 PM

From that rather silly list, Scorsese easily takes it.

darkman226 03-01-03 06:09 PM

one man "Sam Raimi"

Saxofonix 03-01-03 09:23 PM
