Just saw the trailer last night - I actually had to rewind it and watch it again to make sure it was real and not a deodorant or genital warts commercial.

I mean, wow. What the hell, it looks atrocious.

That would be the most epic genital warts commercial ever!

Oh, so it took 4 years from the trailer to the time it is released. Long time.

According to IMDB it didn't begin filming until winter 2004. Did the teaser trailer in the beginning of the thread actually have any movie footage in it? I couldn't get it to play, it is a 4 year old link after all.

I could see them maybe making that as a way to get funding for the movie. Either way, that means it's 3 years ago that it was made, and that is still a very long time!

It's hilarious (and sad) that out of so many great Korean movies over the last few years, it's this piece of crap that gets the biggest release and marketing push in our country. But I guess it's got less subtitles (and less foreign people) than the others Korean movies...

You mean Jason Behr, from The Grudge and who's also married to Kadee Strickland from Private Practice.

This movie is getting zero promotion here in the States. I'll probably check it out tomorrow.

Yeah, I know who it is, I was just joking. It's not often that a movie starring him gets a big theatrical push. Here in the US it's actually getting a pretty big push. I've been seeing commercials on tv for the past few weeks, and billboards for it in LA. It's being released on almost 2,300 screens.

Yep! ..but that's Hollywood. They are probably relying on 30 year film data about a big green dinosaur that rises off the coast of Japan and expecting the popularity will spill over - plus or minus some slight advancements in CGI.

Even though I'm a die hard Korean film fan, I will admit that it's only a niche market here in the States and business is business. No matter what Korean film is screened it will only do so well. Look at The Host. With all the hype, grades (mostly A's and B's) c/o Boxofficemojo and a review rating of 92% on rottentomatoes the film still only ended up doing $2mil. Now if it were a remake .. maybe.

At worst this looks utterly stupid ..at best, pretty silly but in a Snakes on a Plane sort of way. So I'll be seeing it.

Looks as if they didn't let any critics get at it prior to the opening .... and we all know what that means!

Do you really think any critic in the country would say it's good? Of course not so why even bother with them.

See this as long as you're fine with hokey plot devices, bad acting, silly story, wacky scenes...in other words its a bad movie, but one that will please those who love the cheese (bad smelly ones).

It seems like that's the only network showing ads for this movie.

Took the wife to see this tonight hoping for mindless action and fun and got complete garbage instead. And this is coming from someone who loves cheese(I own Black Samurai )

The movie is like a bad version of Ultraman/Godzilla/Power Rangers on steroids just with REALLY shitty acting and horrible characters.

The beginning looked promising because of the whole crouching tiger kung fu look of it all but once you see the "evil army" the movie just shits itself.

And about the acting...ok I know it's not supposed to mean much in a movie like this but geez! You get better acting out of Mr.T and I don't exaggerate on that either.

It also suffers from GI Joe disease. All sorts of mayhem and chaos but not a single drop of blood. I don't consider myself a violence loving person but like Tom Hanks said in Bachelor Party "I usually don't like my filth this clean"

Avoid it like an inbred diseased midget prostitute.

Where did the end scene take place? They were outside Los Angeles and suddenly they are in Middle Earth in front of one of the towers.

Hahaha, I know! I thought it was within that cave from which the army and dragons came from.
