Daredevil ... more proof that Roger Ebert has lost it.

Because he loved The Dark Knight, Indiana Jones, Iron Man, Transformers, Bourne Ultimatum, Casino Royale, Batman Begins, Spider-Man 1 & 2, and all the X-Men movies.
Fanboys don't have anything to complain about anymore.
But truthfully, this is how I used to feel about Ebert. I never understood (and still don't) how he could give three stars and three-and-a-half stars, respectively, to Speed 2 and Spawn, but give Spider-Man only two-and-a-half stars.
Sometimes, he loves a movie and it just can't be explained.

The funny thing about this thread is that the Director's Cut of Daredevil is really good. A lot better than the theatrical cut, and I wouldn't exactly call the theatrical cut horrible. Mediocre? Maybe...

Mark Steven Johnson should never be allowed anywhere NEAR a Marvel Comics property ever again...

The final battle with the Kingpin, for example, in the theatrical cut it's hardly anything at all. In the director's cut it's a great, brutal fight.
I'd rate the director's cut of Daredevil to be one of the 10 best comic book movies ever.

I'd put Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk in the top 10, and I'm sure I'll feel the same way about The Dark Knight. That's 3 this year alone.
The point being, Ebert wasn't out of his mind for liking Daredevil. It's an entertaining movie, and the Director's Cut is a huge improvement over the theatrical version that Ebert saw.

I didn't care for Daredevil, it wasn't well made and wasn't particularly entertaining.
But you gotta admire a critic that recommends what he enjoys over what he perceives he "should" enjoy. He does seem to enjoy movies a lot, a lot more often these days.
(FWIW, I disagree about Daredevil, but agree Phantom Menace - as bad as it was - was still superior to the snooze fest of Attack of the Clones, and Spider-man did suck.)

I put this on part with something like "The Shadow". Saw the Director's Cut on DVD. Glad I saw it. It was alright. Had a few good moments. Didn't buy the DVD. Probably won't watch it again.
