Worst Career Year

Howdy all!

I was just looking over the list of nominees for the Razzies (http://www.razzies.com) and I saw that Eddie Murphy was nominated as Worst Actor for three 2002 films: SHOWTIME, I SPY and THE ADVENTURES OF PLUTO NASH.

Made me start to think: has any actor had as bad a career year as Mr. Murphy had in 2002? Let's not throw out the usual "Pauly Shore / Carrot Top" cliches -- let's look at people with actual talent who just had a terrible year at the movies.

I don't think anyone can top Eddie Murphy's futility record for 2002. Others had their stinkers (Dana Carvey, Stephen Dorff), but none as powerful a punch as the Eddie Murphy Hat Trick of horrible comedies.

I expect him to be on welfare within the next 6 months.

He should be relegated to pretending to be a paraplegic war veteran begging for cash in the park...but he's getting $10 million for Shrek 2, and he's headlining Disney's big Thanksgiving release. Why the studios are still handing him over star roles in comedies...I dunno.

Yeah, if by "welfare" you mean still ridiculously rich.
