Films using multi-aspect ratios/split screen
 

I know that Peter Greenaway has used multi-aspect ratios for Prospero's Books and The Pillow Book. For Brainstorm the screen alternates between 35 and 65mm. Has there been any other films that use this technique?

In terms of multi-angle/split screen, Mike Figgis has done this for "Timecode", briefly in "Miss Julie". In the British film AKA the screen is split in triptych. What other films are presented in this fashion?

I've never seen it, but didn't Sliding Doors use a split screen?

The Andromeda Strain is the best example os split screen that comes to mind.

I probably should remember this with greater clarity since I just saw the movie a couple of weeks ago, but didn't City of God make some use of split-screen?

Split screen has been making a bit of a come back. The <b>Grifters</b> uses it well. And from back in the day, there's the<b>Boston Strangler</b>. I watched something recently that used split screen to show a character’s actions from different perspectives—it was quite effective, but unfortunately I cannot recall the title at the moment.

<b>Dr. Strangelove</b> is presented in different aspect ratios, as is Able Gance’s <b> Napoleon</b>.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned <b>WOODSTOCK</b> !

Sisters, by Brian De Palma, I thought made really good use of split screen for tension and suspense.

Narc, the screen splits into 4 at one point.

Dr. Strangelove uses multiple aspect ratios.

Multi Aspect Ratios: the Horse Whisperer starts in 1.85 and changes to 2.35 when they get to Montanna(at least in the theater it did)

Great example. That and DePalma's Dressed to Kill both build up suspense by the use of split-screen.

I heard that The Rules of Attraction used split-screen quite effectively, also. I have not, however, seen the latter picture.

"Galaxy Quest" used multiple aspect ratios. It started in 1.85:1 and switched to 2.35:1 whaen Tim Allen realized he really was in outer space.

Does Fantasia 2000 count? "The Sorceror's Apprentice" is 1.37:1 while the rest of the movie is 1.85:1.
