I've never been given a reason to START caring.

People "OHH" and "AHH" over the naked gold plated dude and in 2 months people forget about the previous award show.

A good performance is judged by each of us individually, not by some hand selected panel of people on what amounts to a overproduced presidental election.

Geesh, for people who care so little we sure do have a lot to say on the subject. I can understand a little constructive criticism, but to berate an awards show for picking a movie that is adored worldwide (Forrest Gump) over another movie that is regarding by many is slightly silly. If the Oscars had picked Ishtar as the best picture of 1987, and Glitter as the best picture of 2001, perhaps we'd have something to really complain about. But keep in mind that if you don't like a movie, that doesn't invalidate the opinions of millions of other people. Now if EVERYBODY says that movie blows and this awards show calls it the best, then there is something suspect going on. Otherwise, who cares? Either enjoy the show or do what we should be doing...enjoying these great movies that we like so much.

Anybody else not give a damn about the oscars anymore?

The best performances never win, the best pictures never win.

I have never cared. Last year simply reaffirms my belief.

What has really annoyed me most about the Oscars is the campaigning by the studios and individuals for nominations and awards. It's embarrassing and an insult to films as an artistic medium.

Huh, I didn't realize that Robin Williams and Queen Latifa were eligible in the same category....

Think of the movies that have won best picture.
Forrest Gump is better than Pulp Fiction??
Gladiator is better than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon??

That's your opinion. A lot of people thought Forrest Gump was better than Pulp Fiction. And Gladiator was a great movie. The Academy has an opinion just like you do. What makes you believe that your opinion is above the Academy's? Granted, I don't always agree with them either, but it gets tiresome hearing people cry about the Oscars. I mean, it's my opinion that The Shawshank Redemption was a better movie than either Forrest Gump or Pulp Fiction, but Forrest Gump deserved it.

Less award show, more presidential election/debate.

Next stop, stickers saying "vote < celeb name > in 2005!"
