Stupid Reign of Fire-related Question

Has anyone read an interview or anything with Matthew McConaghey regarding what he did to prepare for his role in Reign of Fire? I was amazed at how different he looked than usual since he was WAY more muscular than when I've seen him in other roles. Obviously, all his tattoos in the movie were fake, but the muscles were not. I just wonder how long he prepared for the role and how long it took him to gain that much muscle.

He put in, I believe I heard, 4 -6 hours a day of heavy naked bongo drumming. Whips you right into shape!

His muscles were very obvious CGI. Lazy actors.

obviously off topic but, I always remember Edward Norton in American History X, he had one hell of a body there.

They did not look CGI to me. but still not sure if they were real or not. I thought they looked real. I was wondering the same thing myself. I couldn't help of thinking "Steve only likes the brown M&M's" Wedding Planner.

On the DVD, you can see him in the background when they're interviewing the director on some of the special features and he still looks big, so it's obviously not CGI.

I think Deputy Dave was making a joke. It's pretty obvious his muscles were not CGI...that'd be a waste of money.

Oh, I know he was just kiddin' around. I mean, if you were going to use CGI muscles you'd probably make him really big like Arnold.
