I don't agree with 'waking up in reno' being a bad movie. That movie was really funny.
Death to smoochy the WORST? I don't know about that, but it was really really bad. I think Pluto Nash should've gotten the WORST honors.

I'm not surprised at all that Ebert said that "Death to Smoochy" was the worst of the year. I mean, *dons flame retardant suit* he did say that "Minority Report" was the best.

I happened to enjoy Death to Smoochy.
And, after seeing it, I think Deeds wasn't all that bad. What did they expect? It's an Adam Sandler movie.
For every Spider-man, there's Enough, The Sweetest Thing, Half Past Dead.. I wish Sony would stop trying to make crap.
as for MIB2, nice way to repackage the first MIB and still bring in the bucks.

DtS was ok for a few laughs, but IMO Scooby takes the cake as the worst film of the year with Pluto at a close second place.
I lost respect for Ebert when he gave Fight Club a thumbs WAY down.

If I recall correctly Ebert said he saw Jackass and thought it was surprisingly funny -- one of those guilty pleasure movies. But didn't review it last year because there were a lot of movies.
I got this information from a Business Wire press release. You're right; the show isn't until this weekend.
Is this online somewhere? I thought the Worst of 2002 show wasn't on til this weekend.

I was really surprised at Eberts review of Death to Smoochy. I didn't see this film for quite sometime because it just had horrible written all over it.
I was finally talked into watching it, and laughed my ass off. so much of the humor was very very subtle.
I love the whole concept of a Kiddie show host groupie.
And i've never seen a Nazi gag done better.
And who could forget "My Stepdad's Not Bad, He's Just Adjusting".
Lastly, smoochy with a gun. Wonderful statement.

I chuckled at all of the listed films in each category on Ebert's list until I got to the worst movie of the year. Death to Smoochy?!!!
I can see how Ebert might not like it, but worst movie of the year? It was better than all the other movies on his list IMO. Worse than Swept Away or Pluto Nash??? I think Ebert has a thing against Ed Norton (see Eberts review of Fight Club) because he makes him feel 'funny down there'.
