Hey, Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach weren't 50 and 70-something men performing in the streets together in 1969, I want my money back!

Also, the "Meow Mix" song that Dr. Evil sings in the the first movie wasn't recorded until six years after he was frozen.

I just ebayed my copy- I know eventually they'll re-release it with a corrected soundtrack and I don't want to have the inaccurate one. Best part is, I said that it was "Soon to go OOP, a rare collectors' item due to this mistake" and some guy won my auction with a $600 bid!

Or was his father a time travel way back then also since he looks like he's only in his late 60's. It would get one so confused if you think about it too hard.
Goldmember kidnapped Austin's father in the 70s and then they time traveled to present day.

How I remembered that silly fact from that awful movie is beyond me.

That was actually the only accurate part of the whole movie. Dr Evil did make up the jingle for Meow Mix.

Slightly off topic, but those were my least favorite addition to the Mortal Kombat games.

It doesn't bother me but if a movie takes place at a specific time and I know a song/album hasn't been released yet it sticks out. The most glaring one to me is in ALMOST FAMOUS. The movie is set in the spring of 1973. The scene at the house part in Kansas(I think it was) you hear Deep Purple's "Burn" which wasn't released until 1974. They should have used "Woman From Tokyo" which was winding down it's air play at the time. I was in high school in '73 and this movie really nailed it, takes you back, but that song inaccurracy sticks out like a sore thumb.

I have the urge to bring up Marty McFly singing "Johnny B. Goode" before it was even written, but this thread doesn't need any more help.

Perhaps Harrelson was playing his father, famous in his own right (as a hitman):

Since Berry got the idea for his sound(including Johnny B. Goode) by hearing Marty play it via the telephone, how could Marty know the song before he travelled back in time since it never would have been written until after he travelled back in time.

Too much joystick wiggling for my tastes but I've been told they become quite enjoyable once you get used to them.

LOL, ah yes. Now I see. Forgot the "It's your cousin...Marvin...Marvin Berry!" part.

Time travel confuses me when you think about this stuff. BUT, assuming there was no time traveling before Martys adventure. That would mean Chuck Berry got the idea for the song and music style however it originally happened in reality.

So the song always existed as a classic rock tune since Marty was born. Thus he was familar with it. And then ends up changing history slightly by being the one who first exposed the world to that sound and song. Thus giving Chuck Berry the idea he was looking for in a new sound.

That's a pretty easy and not so confusing way to look at it.

I'm still confused. At what point does Austin Powers spawn the idea in Dr. Evil's head about Skynet?

Yup, it's about time for another time travel conundrum discussion.

Too bad it has spawn from this terrible Austin Powers sequel thread.

I heard somewhere, not sure where that they are possibly making a new movie with the perspective of Dr. Evil.
