Toad ride is dead in Disney world, but alive in Land, Country bears is dead in Ca, but not in fl. makes sense now. ;)

Originally posted by Pants Country Bears is dust at Disneyland in CA. They closed it just in time to NOT benefit from what little synergy the film might have created. Way to go Disney! But about Mr. Toad, WHAT ARE YOU TALKIN' ABOUT BOY!? Are you nuts, that ride is classic. Sure it's a little low rent, but it has character. If they don't have Mr. Toad at Disney World then that's just one more reason for me to never go there. I agree with Pants on Mr. Toad. But to say Mr. Toad is "on par with some of the crappier rides found at carnivals and fairs"?!?!?! Maybe it's just a Californian thing, but I made a point to go on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and purposely wait so I'd always get the red Weasel car! It was always more fun than Autopia. If there is a ride to get rid of, it's got to be the Alice one. |
For some reason it seems us Californians really love Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I dunno why, although i loved the wind in the willows. Maybe it was because my friend kept threatining to push me into hell =P
As for the country bears... bleh. |
I don't know why, but this one intrigues me. I say that without having seen a trailer.
Aren't they doing THE HAUNTED MANSION also? |

At this point I'm in for seeing POTC. There hasn't been a decent pirate movie in a while, so maybe this can be it. Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush hit as often as they miss in my opinion (which is better than I can say for most), and it will be interesting to see how Orlando Bloom does in a non-LOTR, non ensemble (Black Hawk Down) film.
The big question for me is the story. Rarely are pirates depicted as realistically ruthless. I wonder if it will be a authoritative figure pitted against a band of pirates, or warring pirate factions, or the very possible (probably inevitable) disagreement over the one attractive pirate wench on any of the ships. Needless to say, I'm worried about the story. If the trailers don't completely suck, I'll most likely go see it. stoolie |
-eek- DAMN that looks good. Hope the flick lives up to it...
And for those Disney/POtC fans out there...is there any sort of backstory relating to the ride? [similar to the Haunted Mansion] |

Wonder what my work or my wife would say if I decided to grow my beard and braid it like that. Than again, I had that same thought after seeing Jackie Brown. :)

This movie's going to suck. Did you see the font they used for that trailer? Boy, it's got FLOP written all over it!

PotC is my favorite attraction in all of DisneyWorld, but that doesn't mean I'm going to run to the theater. I'll wait until I have more information about the movie before deciding whether I want to see it.
I love the Haunted Mansion ride as well, but I think I can say with some certainty that I will be skipping the flick. It could've been excellent, but Eddie Murphy after 1989 equals mediocrity at best. http://charliegoose.homestead.com/files/goose.jpg Honk! |
In my opinion the only good movie based on a theme park attraction has been Back to the Future.

If Johnny Depp is in it then it'll certainly be a flop.
That guy couldn't buy a hit if he wanted to. He's truly a great actor and has chosen some classic roles (Ed Scissor, Ed Wood) but his movies never seem to make any money. One of my favorites though. My favorite Johnny Depp movie is BLOW. |

looks pretty cool to me. Disney has big expectations for this one.
