2001 didn't have a single superhero movie in the entire Top 100!

Yeah, the modern Superhero flick trend fired up with X-men in 2000 and then went crazy with Spider-man in 2002 (first movie to open above $100m).

I actually thought Hulk did worse than it did. Came in at 14th domestic and managed to outrace the Fast and Furious sequel.

You and almost everyone else who knew of that film's existence. It's one of those perceived bombs that seem much more common in modern cinema than in the past. Others include Devlin and Emmerich's Godzilla ($379M worldwide against $130M budget), Johnny English Reborn ($160M worldwide, $45M budget), and Geostorm ($221.6M worldwide, $100M budget).

Didn't realize that Revolutions had such a huge drop off from Reloaded.

Yeah, Reloaded wasn't the most well received movie by fans (by the way people were talking, the rave sequence went on for 2 hours and the Architect spoke in binary), and by the time the terrible reviews for Revolutions came out the hype for it had flatlined.
