When was the last time a homosexual was treated on television like that?

For the previous post:
Don't forget to put down rednecks/hillbillies etc. In fact, they are the only truly accepted "group" to be made fun of openly. Great book to read: "Red Neck Manifesto" by Jim (James?) Goad. Great book that is funny and yet serious read into how "rednecks" are society's last safe zone to openly critique.
As for gay stigmatism (I hope I've said that right), it's definitely there. The gay community has been VERY SLIGHLY accepted, but just barely, and they CERTAINLY have not been welcomed with open arms. It's a damn shame. As someone else pointed out, there's no doubt about that if a gay person is just being who they are in public, they are still looked down upon, if not necessarily openly. That's as simple as walking hand in hand, I'm not talking about making out in public. Which, by the way, annoys me even when heterosexual people do it. Go ahead and give a quick kiss, but if you're ready to get hot and heavy, step in an alley way at LEAST, if not out of view. It's not necessary.
Sorry for the stray ranting there.....
Ian McKellen, gay or not, is a great actor. King of the nerds? I think I'll agree with the suggestion that it's Kevin Smith...if not king of the nerds....he's at least the ultimate fan-boy.
Geez...I hope I got everything I wanted to say out in the open. Oh yeah....it would appear that this thread has been hijacked. If we want to continue the Ian McKellen's gay/has the gay community been accepted topic, perhaps we ought start another thread.

If I said the reverse, I would be tossed out of DVDtalk.
Hypocripsy.
Yeah, a couple of actors making bad jokes about Republicans on TV is exactly like being disowned by your family, fired from your job or beaten to death. Poor, poor Henry Hyde.
Put up or shut up. Show me someone in hollywood, or the media who have phyically threated homosexuals in the last year. Let's see it.
Your need to reply with humor is interesting.

Wait, how many Hollywood liberals have physically threatened Republicans in the last year? None come to mind. There's a difference between the threat of violence("If I see Henry Hyde on the street tomorrow, I'll punch him in the face") and physically threatening someone (I just saw Henry Hyde, slammed him against a wall and said "Change your beliefs or I'll kick your face in.")
People in Hollywood talk a lot and don't actually do anything.

But anyway, this all has nothing to do with Ian Mckellen. King of the nerds? He might be up there, but I think Kevin Smith gets that title, assuming I'm not in the running.

Was on topic then went off topic, then was miraculously brought back on topic, but now, way too far off topic. Continue "King of Nerds" discussion in another thread if necessary.
