Avoid "The Hours" if at all possible

I'm more apt to take Grunter's review of the film seriously considering he has actually seen it, then people who blast him for not liking a movie they have yet to see just because it has a cast they like. So I really don't know why everyone is beating him up over it. I prefer he give his laundry list of dislikes about the film, then the usual "so and so sucked" and then leave it at that.

In all honesty, I am glad that someone actually took an opposing opinion to the masses of critics. I love great movies, but in all honesty, I hate nothing more than buying a ticket for a critically lauded picture only to find it a pretentious piece of crap.
I will probably view The Hours anyway, but I will most likely wait until it is more easily accessible than driving to some major city for it.

Hey, different strokes. Everyone seems to love "Adaptation". I didn't. Even walked out an hour into it. I'll probably go see "The Hours" as well for two reasons. I like the cast. And the reviews are mostly positive. But we'll see

It was alot better than Far From Heaven atleast. That movie was horrible. I nearly fell asleep a few times while watching it.

Maybe I am just biased. I usually dont like Grunters sanctimonious and pompous tone and choose not to take anything he says seriously.
Yeah, there are pretentious movies out there but other than drawing attention to himself, I still dont see a reason for blasting what tried to be a good film unlike 90% of what Hollywood cranks out today.

Well, if you walked out an hour into it, that negates your opinion since you haven't seen the entire film. Some say the last 20 minutes is the best part.

If people tell my opinion doesnt count because I havent seen the whole movie, it sure doesnt count if you have only seen half of it.
And to CHUD, whos getting defensive? Simply said, even without seeing it, I know the movie is not going to suck and I know it will be better than most movies Ive seen this year.

I really have to wonder (and not for the first time) why people who are so insistent on ostentatiously disregarding the opinions of others even bother to venture into a thread like this at all.
Closing thread as it has long since stopped being a discussion about the film...
