THE REVIEW THREAD. Please paste your reviews here SPOILERS
I thought it would be great to put all the fan reviews together in one thread. For anybody who hasn't seen it yet to get lots of opinions about the movie from fans who have seen it. I hope you all will go along with me on this one.
MY MINI REVIEW POSTED EARLIER---------
From a casual movie goer who decided to atleast watch each chapter before he went into the books. I went into it kind of worried. I thought, I don't know if it could be any better than the first. It was! This movie touched me in more ways, and more often, than the first. You laugh and cry for Smeagol, you will in anticipation as you wait for what should happen next, and it does happen, beautifully to the screen.
The movie starts exactly like early leaked info from aintitcool. You pan around the mines and you hear a voice, to muddled until you are practically inside where a breif rehap of Gandalf the Grey's fall happens. Except this time you are treated to a CGI fest filled with fire and light. Swords swinging, falling at high speeds. It was a wonderful way to open the movie.
I felt this movie had way more one on one interaction from everybody to everyone. You had much more time to get deeper into the feelings of everyone. Legolas and Ghimli are given much more screen time. And there are moments in the heat of battle which some of you might scoff at. Should I be laughing in the middle of death and distruction? You have no choice though, you will, if you have a funny bone in your body. I don't want to spoil any of the cool moments but. . .
The movie has a good dozen one liners and I think they are all great. But that's me, comedy doesn't bother me.
The movie had a whole heap of interesting things going. Smeagol was so sweet and he conflicted with Gollum. When it first started the audience found it funny. The Ents DO get revenge, Gandalf the white displays some extraordinary powers. And Helm's Deep isn't the only time you will see some impressive action. I was happy to see a bunch of smaller scale fights as the Fellowship battles was one of my favorite things in TFOTR. So if you like action, you will get your monies worth.
Well, there's my word. From a casual movie fan who went in just hoping it would be better than the first. And I was impressed and very happy with the movie. I like it more than the first and I'm very pleased to say it is an even more enjoyable movie than FOTR. Mostly because of the more in depth character development, a little darker and more serious element, and great plot progression. The FOTR took a while to take off. This one takes off not to far from the beggining. You'll love it! The midnight crowd was great. Quiet for the majority and loud at the right moments. Good night everyone. Hope you all love it as much as I did!!
