Bad Blaster... bad! ;)

KnightLerxst 12-17-02 09:10 PM

Well the female Terminator is hot as hell.

Mittman 12-17-02 09:30 PM

Man that looks bad in my opinion. I'll still give it a chance, but it looks kind of dumb.

chanster 12-17-02 09:51 PM

See here is the problem with this new Terminator - the T-1000 seems like the ultimate weapon. yes I know this terminator can somehow

Spoiler:
control other machines

But whats the point..if your point is to kill a man, then the ability to shape shift seems much more useful.

I have to agree with you on this one.

First, it doesn't have the "look" of the previous films(obviously because Cameron isn't directing).

Second, The "T-X" does not appear as deadly as the T-1000.
There really isn't anything groundbreaking about Arnie's new nemesis. I mean....come on.... Cameron gave us a Liquid Metal Terminator.

Also, based on the trailer, the effects look "Too CGI"..almost comparable to those seen on WB's Smallville.

clemente 12-17-02 10:58 PM

Well....its just a trailer, but with the lack of Cameron and Hamilton (and Brad Fiedel) I expected the worst.

But this trailer really has me jazzed to see the movie. Cameron just knows how to make action work, I wasn't sure if Mostow would "get" it, but from the few set pieces they showed in the trailer he may in fact know how to do it on this much larger level than he's worked before.

I still think the TX is a bad idea for a villian, but the jumping bit was at least somewhat cool.

Groucho 12-17-02 11:03 PM

I'm not surprised Blaster didn't find the old thread. A search on "Terminator" would have turned up nothing since the abbreviation "T3" (which is unsearchable) was used instead.

ChefWinduAZ 12-18-02 12:28 AM

If you look cloely at one of the scenes, the T-X makes one of her arms go into the liquid state like the T-1000.

El-Kabong 12-18-02 12:40 AM

"She'll be back"

Geeze - you'd think after 15+ years they'd be able to come up with new dialogue.

This movie offends me like Alien 3 offends me. This attitude of "You don't like what's come before, ignore it" hogwash bugs the hell out of me. The end of T2 - the whole point of the god damned movie - was to prevent the creation of Cyberdine. They did that - they liquefied the T1K and Ah-nold. The only bits left to work from was the arm. Oh yeah - there's a whole lot of CPU power in the left arm.

Gimme a break.

If you're going to write an ending to the series, then have some balls and stick to it. If not, then don't paint yourself into the corner like that. Just don't suck the drama out of the piece by negating everything that happened.

Thanks, but no thanks. I'll give it a miss.

Jackskeleton 12-18-02 01:13 AM

El Kabong, it's called a catch line. They needed to keep the catch phrase there from the past ones.

JTH182 12-18-02 02:37 AM

I dunno, T2 was such an amazing movie (especially for a sequel!) I'm not sure this one can do the series justice, but I guess we'll have to wait and see... I really feel they missed the boat by not having two Arnies though... One good and one bad, that would have made the ultimate battle royale for this (last?) installment.

It looked more like her arm turned into some kind of gun to me.

Oh hell yeah, that would have been the shiznit!

shanester 12-18-02 04:46 AM

Without Cameron there is NO Terminator!..

It was HIS vision we saw on screen!..The whole idea of the cyborg came to him in a dream

No offense to Barstow but this movie is a poor excuse for a sequel!

Geofferson 12-18-02 10:27 AM

Looks good indeed

dvduser6 12-18-02 11:04 AM

The trailer of course looks pretty good, but without Cameron & Hamilton's involvement, I won't expect much. Come on, T2 is quite possibly one of the best modern science fiction/action pictures ever made. And it was a sequel, for crying out loud. I, for one, think the studios and Arnold should have left the legacy alone.

GuessWho 12-18-02 12:02 PM

Why the Hell does John Connor keep getting older?

Just keep gong back to 1984 over and over and over again till you get it right.

Even better: go to 1900, where NOTHING would be a match for the technology and kill off his great-grandma.

Johnny Zhivago 12-18-02 12:08 PM

"She'll be back"... -rolleyes-

Ugh.

This turkey looks bad.

Wow, you saw it already?

Derrich 12-18-02 02:04 PM

I dont like it. The whole premise just seems wrong. Why does Cyberdyne keep sending Terminators back to the past? You'd think after 2 crushing defeats it'd figure out that didn't work. And Where is Linda Hamilton? And where is the T-1000? That was the uber-terminator. It seemed a lot more capable than a cute girl with a gun for an arm.

Just set the entire movie in the future and show us the action that sent Reese back the first time. Boom, perfect movie.

But this T3....I have doubts.

D

necros 12-18-02 02:10 PM

I think it looks good. I'm not expecting something to blow away the first too, it just looks like another chapter in the Terminator story.. and that's not always a bad thing :)

Dr. DVD 12-18-02 02:11 PM

I'm sorry, but this looks more like a cheap imitation of the Terminator movies we have seen rather than something of Cameron's caliber.

The "She'll be back" line had me -rolleyes- ; looks like we're getting into self parody.

Also, will the machines doing battle be in a flashback or part of the actual storyline this time around? Doubt it matters as I am sure this will get a PG-13 rating for maximum gross, which I see as being about $150 million, a disappointment for one that cost so much.

jessecrx 12-18-02 02:14 PM

So, Basil, if I travel back to 1969 and I was frozen in 1967, I could go look

at my frozen self. But, if I'm still frozen in 1967, how could I have been

unthawed in the 90's and traveled back to the Sixties?

Oh, no, I've gone cross-eyed.

I suggest you don't worry about those things and just enjoy yourself.

:D

Not always, but it looks as if it will be here.

I was excited for the third, but after the trailer, I have serious doubts.

Rogue588 12-18-02 02:44 PM

I agree 110% with El-Kabong.

And this might not be the last of it...I read somewhere [AOL or TVGuide.com] that Claire Danes has signed for more than this one...

SeanValen 12-18-02 04:06 PM

Consider it a bonus Terminator film for now, T2 was the last creative thing, T3 for stopping people saying when's T3 out.

It will be T4 where I think it would take place in the future, although was hoping it would be set in the future now. They can't send another terminator back, rather see the future where skynet is. So if its not T3, I hope T3 makes money, because T4 I think will be the groundbreaking finale in the future.

No I have not but I know that Cameron is in a class by himself whe it comes to mixing science fiction, action and story telling

BT 12-18-02 04:41 PM

Seeing the T3 trailer was great icing on the cake before TTT last night. Got a nice round of applause from the audience as well. I'll go see it. :)

BizRodian 12-18-02 06:03 PM

I didn't like T2 except for the action. (which is hard to match, even today) so I doubt I'll like this one much.

T1 was great though.

mikehunt 12-18-02 06:48 PM

any mirror sites so I can use getright to grab the trailer?

Yeah, look at Dark angel. -rolleyes-

Honestly, given the formula, anyone could have done the second and made it just the same. In that case, anyone can take the already inprinted premise and churn out something decent. When it comes down to it, T3 will be just like T2 a good popcorn flick. You didn't honestly take T2 for anything more then that did you?

I agree and had Cameron been doing this I'd be bitching...but Cameron has no piece of this. He made his choice, he ended the Terminator franchise.

Consider this a follow up made only to make money (which is what it is) just continuing on a great story...like that Gone with the Wind sequal written decades after the original.

Cameron did NOT direct Dark Angel..He was only an executive producer..

That's like saying well anyone could have made "Goodfellas"

UH..I don't think so!

There are certain films that only some directors can make

Everything we saw in T1 & T2 came from Cameron's vision..You can not replace that with someone else

He was smart to stay away from T3..He realised there's was nothing more he could do with the story!!

There both a differnet stories and have a completely different look

I see the stories more of a continuation then a sequel..Kind of like The Godfather series

Too each is own I guess

Cameron did direct the last episode by the way. ;)

Lets put it this way, Cameron planted the seeds. anyone can do whatever they want with his vision and have it come out just right. Look at what Cameron did with Sam winston. Planted his view of what a "PREDATOR" could look like and you got your predator look.

I'm not saying he isn't good at what he is doing, I'm just saying that the formula once laid out, can be given to anyone and it could turn out something decent. I'm willing to give T3 a chance.

shanester 12-18-02 08:36 PM

I did Like "Breakdown" so I will give it a chance

Dudikoff 12-18-02 11:28 PM

As most people were, I was at TTT and saw the T3 trailer. Most people seemed excited when it first started, but when it ended with that ridiculous one-liner, everyone laughed. I know Arnie is a smart guy, buy he is getting like Michael Jackson. He thinks he's still the biggest star in the world and that people want the same thing he's been dishing out for 20 years. Arnold is by far my favorite entertainer, but come on, break some new ground. T3 looks like all action and explosions and no story. This doesn't work anymore! Save some of that $150 mil and write an original script that no one has seen before. I will definitely see this movie opening night (preferably a midnight showing). Just please don't give me T2 part 2. If you do, Arnie is gonna go into politics cause his $30 mil paydays are over.

pro-bassoonist 12-18-02 11:36 PM

I like what i see on that trailer. Will definitely see it!!

Some of you guys simply need to get a grip....some really profound statements around here....from only a 2min trailer.....??.....???
