This spring, everything gets ... Blow'd UP!

Just watched the preview through Clark Kent's link, I am positive it said Star Trek. Either that or I am starting to hear things. ;)

It just seems strange that "Star Trek" and "Kung Fu" could be jumbled .... Okay. I'll make things easier. I'm wrong. ;)

Now I would love to see them let the earth crack in half. Both halves float off into space - The End. Now that would be a way to end a movie.

silentbob007 12-17-02 09:24 PM

instead of "the end," it could say "oops"

Derrich 12-18-02 05:28 AM

I heard 'Kung Fu'. There are probaly 2 different versions.

But not before a scientist, who objected to the project all along, launches his infant son in a homemade rocket to a far distant planet. A planet that gives the child super-human abilities, where he must learn that great power etc. etc. etc.

If they spent all this time on special effects, it sure doesn't show. Mortal Kombat:Annihilation had better effects. I'm sorry, I'm just burnt out on all these "made to please generic America who prefers fullscreen over wide and gives Maid in Manhattan 19 million opening weekend when you can just spend 1.99 on the original called Pretty Woman" flicks. Horrible effects, some of the absolute worst forced humor, and the fact that this was made for about 80 million when that money could have been spent on actually good movies between 5-20 million, like Requiem For a Dream.

 Lordy, did I see a bunch of these sorts of trailers before LOtR:tTT tonite...

mthiel 12-20-02 11:42 PM

If I saw it 5 years ago, I'd probably like it. If I saw it today, I would notice a few cliches, but I'd probably like it.

I'm trying to correct this, really.

calhoun07 12-21-02 12:08 AM

I saw the "Star Trek" tapes version of the trailer, and it was before Nemesis.

And it wasn't just this movie but every movie trailer I saw before Nemesis and Two Towers that secured the fact that there will be very little asking for my money in the DVD market in 2003.

I'm very glad that these monstrous electrical storms are attracted to world monuments.

And what in god's name happened to the Coliseum. This electric crap builds up inside and starts spinning around before blowing out the building. WTF!!!!!!

And they have to have the one French/Russin guy to go along for the ride to help.

This movie is gonna be so good to laugh at. I'm getting the MST3K vibe.

You can count me out on this one. The premise is unbelievably stupid, and I already know how the entire movie is going to pan out.

"The core of the earth has stopped spinning. Hey, I gots an idea, let's drill to the center of the earth and detonate a nuclear explosion!"

Totally agree. I mean it looks like they took the script from Armageddon and just changed what they were drilling into. The road trip guy is basically Billy Bob Thornton. The guys going into the center of the Earth is just like Bruce Willis and his team of oil drillers. Then there is the token foreign guy. It looks like the characters are exactly the same. I wonder how much effort, outside of the special effects, it really took to make this movie. But i am sure it will make plenty of money.

Saw Nemesis last night. In the trailer in my theater they said Kung Fu.

Snowmaker 12-21-02 11:21 PM

Why does the trailer for The Core say "This Fall"?? Did I blink and miss the movie?

mthiel 12-21-02 11:31 PM

The Core was supposed to be released this Fall 2002, but it was delayed.

I agree, the special effects look pretty awful.

Giles 01-30-03 10:00 AM

The trailer I saw this in front of "Darkness Falls" made me roll my eyes in the back of my head. The SFX shots look like something you'd see on television.

cooper2000 01-30-03 08:51 PM

Thats why they held the release back to upgrade the effects.

ClarkKentKY 02-03-03 12:35 AM

Well, looks like we'll have to wait even longer for this gem.

Paramount Pictures has pulled its trailer for The Core, which shows the Space Shuttle in jeopardy, but the studio is holding to its March 28 release date for the sci-fi thriller, reports Variety.

The studio asked exhibitors to stop screening the trailer following Saturday's space shuttle Columbia disaster and it is reviewing its advertising to make certain the campaign is sensitive to the tragedy.

The studio also said it's premature to decide whether to alter or excise Shuttle sequences from the film.

Paramount decided in the fall to delay release of The Core from November in order to give more time to complete f/x shots.

cooper2000 02-03-03 02:00 AM

THIS looks a lot better than the crappy Armageddon and I dont think Brucheimer has anything to do with it so...
I think this movie is reminisent of At the Earths Core and it doesnt look like it is as schlocky as Armageddon.

PixyJunket 02-03-03 08:58 AM

100% USDA Grade A Choice Cut CRAP.

Saw the trailer Saturday night before LOTR and I have to admit I kind of freaked out because of the whole Columbia thing that morning, and the trailer shows a space shuttle practically crash landing into a river. I was like "Damn.. eerie..". Anyway, I went to the movie with this girl I know that's taking film classes, I just whispered to her "If you ever make anything like that, I'm disowning you."

d2cheer 02-03-03 09:15 AM

Agree, this doesn't look very good....

vdadlani219 02-03-03 03:23 PM

We had to pull all the trailers and even movie posters from our theatre
