Behind The Sun

I just saw Behind The Sun a Brazilian movie directed by Walter Salles.

It was excellent. It's about a family having a land feud/blood feud with another family, set in 1910, but was made a year ago.

anyone here ever seen it?

I saw it a couple of months back and it didn't really move me - I'm glad I rented.
I might be judging it hard because the only other Salles film I've seen is 'Central Station' but this story about the feuding families has been done so many times, though this one has some peculiar formalities.

I bought this DVD sight-unseen and ended up really enjoying it! (I hadn't seen "Central Station".) Though it may not be the most original of stories, I still found it poignant.

There's quite a few Romeo and Juliet adaptations - might be a whole another thread to list the good ones.
And of course that story is the basis for several other films.

The one that sticks in my mind is a Huck Finn based story. Might have been a TV episode that I saw a long time ago.

Good movie, but I liked Central Station much better.
