It's simply a story device.
This reminds me of the scene from Buñuel's Belle de jour when Catherine Deneuve is propositioned by a 'john' and he opens a case and shows her what he has in mind for their trist.
Though, we the audience never see what Deneuve sees. Again, it's simply a device to get people to talk, I think.
Let me put it this way, if you knew what was in the suitcase would the scene be half as talked about as it still is today? The mystery of not knowing fuels talk.
People respond more to things unseen, when it comes to cinema.
Just one man's opinion...

Another Pulp fiction, but I didn't want to create another thread. When Vincent and Mia pull up to Jack Rabit Slims, she does a little hand movement and and a little bit of animation pops up, what does this mean. And is the bullets in the wall before the guy shoots them a continuity error or god stopping the bullets (as Jules mentiones)

I never noticed holes in the wall before the guy shoots at Vincent and Jules, just after. Maybe someone else could answer this one.

She makes a square. Which is the old timers way of calling someone a loser. Ever heard the saying "be there of be square"? Us teenagers would never use it
