to clearify what his rambling means. They decided to start selling tickets to LOTR's today (friday).

I don't know if I want to buy a ticket for the movies a month before hand, I'm sure this will cause problems in some way.

Nothing to do but sit back in nervously excited anticipation now...

Can't say that I did. I'm sure our local theatre will be showing it every half hour, but I don't think I will go on opening weekend. Probably won't see it till the new year.

I would think not, because the conditions of using it are 1) in person at the box office only (no phone or internet), and 2) between 12/18 and 12/31/02 only.

Seems like for the big fanatics, we'll be using the free pass for the 2nd plus viewing.

I was denied the Ultrascreen when I went to buy tickets last year for FOTR. However, an employee there said that the 2nd theatre was best, as they crop films on the Ultrascreen slightly to make it fit better. This was at Marcus Point Cinemas in Madison.

If you bought tix for the 12am showing, it falls on the 18th. So technially it does fall in the ticket guidelines on the free pass. I will be attempting it.

What's ultrascreen? And no, I dont have my tix yet... the theater here doesnt do that and it sucks in other ways too
Thankfully, I have the score to tide me over (I'd say it's better than the Fellowship score)

Marcus Cinemas, which is a pretty big chain in the upper midwest, has several really large screens they dub UltraScreens. I believe the one at WestTown claimed to be 3 times larger than a regular screen (what a regular screen is, I don't know).

Marcus was actually thinking of building an IMAX at Point Cinemas, but instead opted to build "Midwest's largest" Ultrascreen. Seeing as Madison doesn't have an IMAX, I was slightly miffed that they opted for a smaller screen.

I haven't gotten tickets yet. I want to see it with a group a friends, and getting them all together ain't as easy as it used to be.

just a note; since technically it is an "11:59" showing at least at my theatre, we are told not to accept the passes from the LOTR dvd set. i know; a bummer indeed.

Since it's technically a 11:59 showing, isn't your theatre breaking the release date?

Nope, but I got my "8 Crazy Nights" ticket. I assume I'll still have to stand in line for 2 hours, but it'll be worth it.

Yeah; you would think that they would have to do it at 1201, as with all the midnight shows we've had before, but this time there was a message given down that we were having the show, and to program it at 1159. Maybe it was an error, but thats what it says right now...odd...

TORN is working on getting us a 10pm screening at The Vista in L.A. In any case, they're buying all the tickets for the first screening and we'll buy them from the organizers at the line. It's nice to know that my ticket is secured and I didn't have to do anything

Is the free ticket in the Extended edition valid at Loews theaters?
