I see no photo
EDIT: Nevermind. I switched to a different browser and it's there. Firefox doesn't like it for some reason. Not even a broken link to let me know something should be there.

A lot of this has more to do with product placement than subtext.

There wasn't any actual promotion in regards to branding (like fast-food, soft drink or food tie-ins). There was a promotion with Coca-Cola in Europe, but that was about it. So if there was going to be any product placement in the film, it should have been Coke.
I guess technically you could throw Wise brand potato chips in to the mix (there's a bag in plain view behind Venkman when Walter Peck comes to the firehouse to talk to him).

I don't mean it in a bad way, necessarily, I just mean that the second film was basically a rehash of the first with little interest in messing with the formula. Given how successful the first one was, I can hardly blame them, and given how many fans it has, it's clearly not an issue. More of the same when you like the same isn't a bad thing.

Nobody mentioned this fact: in order to keep the actors and crew happy, producers had catered food on the set every day!

Hotel Bust with Slimer = Courtroom Bust with the Scolari Bros. (Winston missing for some reason)
Walter Peck = Jack Hardemeyer
Louis Tully = Janosz Poha
Mr. Stay Puft = Statue of Liberty
Gozer = Vigo
Vinz Clortho = Possessed Janosz
They completely ignored the chemistry Janine had with Egon that was even played up in The Real Ghostbusters, and instead turned it into a Louis/Janine thing. Bill Murray (off and on set) feels completely detached from the rest of the Ghostbusters.
However, I wouldn't say the film has a huge amount of fans (aside from the die-hards and those like me who are nostalgic about it). I can find a lot of good in it, but in does pale in terms of charm that the first has. There's a lot of behind the scenes stuff that is more interesting that unfortunately will most likely never come to light (given the 25th anniversary BD is the first time the film will have any special features aside from the theatrical trailer).
It would have been interesting to see Wilhelm von Homburg's reaction to being overdubbed by Max von Sydow (he supposedly walked out of the film during its premiere).

Dana's baby in part 2 was also named Oscar. I think Venkman even says something about Dana naming him after a hot dog.
