Which is the best of the first bunch of Disney animated films?
Just curious to see what people think is the best from the era. A lot of people seem to consider Snow White the best, but I find as a movie, it fails in comparison to Pinocchio. Then there's Fantasia, which is tough to compare, but I still feel is a more fulfilling film than Snow White.
Interested to see what the opinions are. And if you've only seen one of these films, please don't bother voting for it. And please vote on what the better movie is, not what is most historically significant, what is most revolutionary, or which has a most-imitated formula. Which do you consider the BEST FILM?
Be sure to post why you voted for what you did.

Dumbo - to me it was just the most entertaining of the bunch, particularly the songs/music.

Bambi - it held my attention as a child, while the other ones didn't as much.
As an adult, I might pick Pinocchio instead.

Each and every one of these choices is an entertaining movie that stands up well to repeat viewings (even as an adult!) - but for sheer brilliance in the animation and the incredibly detailed artwork PINOCCHIO gets my vote.

Pinocchio - It's the most endearing film. It left a lasting impression on me as a child and holds a special place in my heart. I just remember feeling so sorry for Pinocchio and really hoping that all would work out for him!

Pinocchio is the best American animated film of all time.
...right behind The Land Before Time VI: The Secret of Saurus Rock, that is.

I voted for Fantasia. Granted, the "classical" soundtrack might bore some youngsters to tears, but it has Mickey in the Sorcerer's Apprentice.
Nuff said.

Tough choice but Fantasia edges out the others IMHO, perhaps because it tried the most to be something kind of unique rather than recycling old fairy tales. Although I have to admit I love Dumbo and Pinocchio too! (Never cared as much for Snow White -- it's a 'chick flick')

Fantasia, 'cause I never get tired of it. The music and the animation go together so well, and even now I can't listen to the "Rites of Spring" without thinking of dinosaurs and lava. Easily one of my fav Disney films of all time...

I couldn't have said it better myself.
All of the elements came together in Pinocchio: The richness of its story, the sheer beauty of its artwork, the technical brilliance of its animation, the poetry of its songs, and the pitch-perfect voice acting.

i voted for Pinocchio and i actually thought i would be in minority! i always thought it was one of the least popular films, at least of those listed in this poll.

I feel Fantasia is the best. Stories told by classical musical was just an absolutely daring idea to be put to film at the time (and even now) that it was truly brilliant. It's like watching an animated ballet. The final sequence is just spectacular too (Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria).

I voted pinoccio, but I have to say that these 5 films represent something of unsurpased quality and artistry. I mean to pick among those five..l.WOW! Each film is different than the other, yet relates to at least one or two of the others in some distinct way. Each one is great, Pinoccio is the best, but taken together as a group of 5...OH MY GOD!!! It is a cannon of work unmatched in American film. To think they made these 5 films in 5 years!!!

I had millions of lumps in my throat at the end, but it is a great film.
