Best trailer

I was watching the Predator trailer and realized how bad it sucked (in crappy mono-sounding Dolby 2.0, no less)....made me wonder if anyone has a favorite trailer on a DVD?

I liked wathcing the Episode I trailer, but that's also because I get goosebumps from the build-up of the film coming to the theaters years ago.

Are there any really good trailers out there? And are any in 5.1?

I've always favored teasers than trailers that give the whole storyline away. My favorites are Alien and Rope.

it keeps changing. what makes a good trailer is how much you look forward to the movie.. after it's out, the trailer seems to lose a lot for me.

Most of my faves are set to music, or at least the music plays a big part in them. Just from the ones I have on my computer (not DVDs, so I'm not too huge a fan of the movies themselves):

Black Hawk Down
Magnolia
Moulin Rouge
Vanilla Sky

I remember after seeing the second Phantom Menace trailer, I went around saying, "There's no way it can't be good!" Uh . . . whoops.

The Neverending Story 1 & 2 trailers have that awesome synthesized Ivory Tower theme.

I love the trailer for The Guardian; it makes it look so good. The movie was nothing special however. Good thing I got the trailer on the "Boogeymen" disc and didn't have to buy the actual movie.

The Exorcist II trailer is cool, with its Pazuzu-Disco-Chant - and shows scenes from the whole movie - in order!

Star Trek VI - The Undiscovered Country has a beautiful retrospective trailer of all past voyages.

I always loved seeing the South Park: BLU trailer with the CG spiel at the beginning.

Alien is, I think, the best trailer

Reason: It showed nothing of the movie, but gave you an idea what kind of movie was going to be, and made you want to see it.

It's not as exciting on the DVD, but it was really cool at the movies.

I'll stand by Twister as having the best trailer. Shame about the movie, though.

Agreed! On that note, how about the initial teaser trailer for Godzilla (Matthew Broderick version)? The one with the old fellow fishing on the pier and then ever so slowly the wave of water starts to form.....................

Pearl Harbor trailer was great, it's too bad the movie never lived up to its trailer. I have to say as far as I know, it's THE most perfect blend of music and trailer that I have ever seen.
