Runner up- Tootsie: a hilarious movie, great laughs throughout, and any line from Bill Murray is a gem- " I think we're getting into a weird area here."
Best of '82- The Verdict. What looks like on the surface a simple redemption film is transcended by Newman's performance. The Oscar he won later for Color of Money was meant to make up for being overlooked for this role. He does much more with his silent moments in this film than other actors could with pages of dialogue. |
There were a lot better movies that year, but my vote goes to Class of 1984. I loved that movie for some crazy reason.

This is a very easy one for me:
Blade Runner |
Gandhi
|
Blade Runner hands down. Everyone likes E.T., but it's not a great film in my opinion.
|
I take it back, zapped is the best film of the year.
Ain't no doubt. |

Will be starting '81 either tonight or tomorrow - bump for (hopefully) some more votes.

|
The 2 front-runners (not surprisingly here) have pretty much turned it into a 2 film race... here ya go:
1) E.T. (10 votes) 2) Blade Runner (8.5) 3) Gandhi (4) 4) Fast Times at Ridgemont High (2.5) The '81 Thread is now open here. |
THE THING
|
I owe my pubescent awakening to Phoebe Cates, therefore Fast Times at Ridgemont High must get my vote.
Honorble mention: Ghandi 48 hrs Conan Poltergeist Das Boot Blade Runner And a very special mention for Night Shift - can you believe that Mr. play-it-safe-take-the-easy-feel-good-road-and-wave-that-flag Ron Howard directed this?!??!!? Too bad he got sucked into the machine..... |
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
