i was under the impression that it'd be 1/3 of the eBay insertion/end of auction fee....

yes.. its 1/3 of the ebay fees
the ebay fees are probably under $10 total right now
so 1/3 of that is still pretty reasonable

of course.. the top 3 bidders at the end will split the ebay fees (currently about 2.50 each).. but only the top bidder will have get the great feedback left under their name, and have this auction forever tied to their ebay account..
so maybe we will see a minor bidding war at the end, for whoever thinks its worth a few more nickels to be in the top spot and get the feedback
