Man, the feel of cold colorless type writer keys compared to a nice pointy crayon with the paper intact?

It's hard to put a price on that kind of thing.

Shhh... I thought I was going to get out bid. Damn. Who wants this typewriter? Anyone overseas I can have it shipped to?

So you won the typewriter? What was the final bid?

RandyC 06-30-03 01:39 AM

You can auction it on eBay for 1 cent starting bid... but say that buyer pays a fixed shipping cost of $6.00. Instant profit!

RandyC 06-30-03 01:40 AM

BTW, I was going to snipe the auction, but it went too high at $6. I am holding out for the coctail straws with the clown face on them.

einTier 06-30-03 01:55 AM

final bid was $6.00. I was just kidding around and didn't expect to win. Crap. That'll teach me. I am now the proud owner of a $6 typewriter that I can't use. Even the fact that the shipping will be more than $6 doesn't make me any happier about it.

Preacher 06-30-03 01:58 AM

%^%&^*#@ einTier you stole my typewriter!
I will use it for your ransom note.
No action for days so I went to bed.
No crayon for you.

-guess I can stop looking for the monkey. :(

einTier 06-30-03 04:33 AM

Preacher, you want it? I'll have him ship it to you. I didn't mean to steal it, honest!

It was a goof, a joke, .... you know. Seriously, I don't want it. Old moldy, crusty thing.

Stop describing your monkey to me and enjoy your winnings. Congrats. ;) I really wanted the pool and the crayons, but lost the pool.

Just remember what jarsim suggested, post a pic when it arrives. Monkey optional. -smile-

Isn't he paying for shipping?

We could buy stuff and send it to Geoff. But we need a mailing address...

At least, that's where I got the address I used for the European post card I sent him. ;)

Well done. Knew someone would have it or find it.

Preacher 06-30-03 06:35 PM

Straws auction ends in 6 hours. There is a clown on the bag.
Ooh.

It's all fun and games until someone wins a typewriter.

Preacher 06-30-03 07:22 PM

The straws are in for .26 and RandyC is top of the pops.

ChiTownAbs, Inc 06-30-03 10:08 PM

Preacher 07-01-03 06:38 AM

Damn RandyC in with the late bid. 8 seconds from the end?

You sniped the straws?
rotfl

RandyC 07-01-03 10:30 AM

I decided to pull out the big guns for the clown straws. Sniped with 8 seconds to go! Muhahhahahah...... THEY ARE MINE!!!

Preacher 07-01-03 11:47 AM

So Far:

Ended
?????? - baby inflatable pool
einTier - typewriter (for his ugly monkey to use and write 90210 episodes)
RandyC - clown straws ( please make jokes now)

Still to Finish
Preacher - The Mind Gymnasium by Denis Postle (self realization thingy)
ChiTownAbs - 900 line book (for those who don't know)
Preacher - The Crayons (the crayons)

bothanspy 07-01-03 03:12 PM

I pushed ABS "900 book" auction to a more respectable 17 cents. He's going to keill me.

I am more worried about crazy, demented otters that don't win their auctions for 7 cents and come after pranksters like me.

ChiTownAbs, Inc 07-01-03 03:16 PM

I'm going to win the auction and ask him to ship the book to my cousin in India.

Heat 07-01-03 03:19 PM

Dang, I had bid on the typewriter with a max bid of something like $0.10. I was outbid.

Preacher 07-01-03 03:44 PM

Auction bump to .34

HaHa

Preacher 07-01-03 03:48 PM

We appear to have a bidding war.

Hah! The self -realization book is mine. Only seconds left it seems safer to brag. Looking for a world of help from this ground breaking work. So how bad do you want the 900 help book?

Bushdog 07-01-03 10:18 PM

zany guys

bothanspy 07-02-03 12:57 AM

It looks like I own a 900 book that I really didn't want. Abs, we can still send it to India.

RandyC 07-02-03 03:57 AM

Snipe the crayons or not? $18.50+

Hmmmm..

Remember the rules.

1 - For a low cost you get a positive rating on Ebay and so does the seller.

2 - There must be pictures taken with the winning item.

3 - The price needs to stay sane. With exceptions, including crayons of course.

4 - At the end we can send the items to Geoff if we believe it is the best place for them. Perhaps he could start a museum.

The DVDTalk Museum for Unusual Items Or Sellers That Intrigued Us Enough To Actually Buy Them
or
Things DVDTalkers Do With Their Time
or
Who'd Figure? A Crayon Run? In July?

- I still wanna know how we lost the pool.

Preacher 07-02-03 07:34 AM

HaHa. I have the crayons. Other than the pool, the typewriter and the clown straws this was what I wanted. My woman called me "expensive" when she saw the bid. Some things cannot be explained.

If we do more auctions we need a real place to send any stuff we do not really want. Any suggestions? Sending them to Mr. Kleinman (Geoff) seems like teasing the bear. It is not intended as such, but careful children should look both ways when crossing the road. Plus it is a waste of stuff that someone might actually use.

It seems like an easy way to improve an Ebay rating on items with supposed to be low dollar amounts. And just enjoy the confusion and future auctions featuring "crayons" or "typewriters" or whatnot.

Possible Shipping Locales
- A Boys and Girls Club
- some skeezy pawnshop out in nowhere
- The Prime Minister of Canada (legacy related items only...maybe a crayon. maybe a white crayon)
- some guy in prison

I shall post crayon pictures when they arrive. Gotta get our digital camera back soon.

dek 07-02-03 08:09 AM

"Teasing The Bear" - watch out, you're about to get Grunter involved

And I shall wait, with baited breath.

EDIT: Oh look, I am a special edition now :).

ChiTownAbs, Inc 07-02-03 11:10 AM

I don't really want to send it to India, but I'm sure I can snag my cousins address and make some minor adjustments to it so that it gets sent nowhere.

kvrdave 07-02-03 11:22 AM

 Ebay swag.

Hey, if you do not want it I will take it. But then no picture for you.

If you keep it I will send you a crayon. Your choice just not Burnt Sienna or the gold one.
