Foul Play and Muder on the Orient Express both deserve SE treatment - theatrical trailers, any documentaries, making of, commentary, whatever is available that can be added.

Where are some of the best titles from Paramount people are waiting for? GREASE (MUST be an SE!!!!), Footloose, Flashdance, Saturday Night Fever, Staying Alive....What is Paramount waiting for???????????

With the exception of MGM and Paramount, everyone is using and selecting titles with the dts audio track as an option. Imagaine how much better the sales might have been for Enemy at the Gates and Tomb Raider.

It's been my experience that horror and cult fans are the most die-hard when it comes to extra features on discs. Straight-ahead dramas don't generally get people so involved, and/or desiring to go a lot "deeper" into them.

I would say therefore that the deluxe treatment should go to:

- CAPTAIN KRONOS (please please please) + other Hammer (esp. FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL)

- FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET (it seemed to be sort of in your list -- so please please please please solidify this release, and be SURE it's OAR, 16x9 ehn., and both English and original Italian audio tracks)

- IF...

- DAY OF THE LOCUST

- DON'T LOOK NOW (whoops! Was that not on the list?? I must be confusing it with the gorgeous, uncut 16x9 enhanced version, with extras, that's already out in Europe. Should be easy to get this one out domestically).

And please remember, for all releases:

- No full screen or Pan and Scan!!!!
- 16x9 Enhanced for anything not Academy ratio
- Minimize edge enhancement!!!

Paramount has had that locked in the early 70's.

Definitely worth a Malcom McDowell commentary, as it was his first film. From what I understand, he's raring to go. Please move quickly before the poor guy keels over...

Day of The Locust is my favourite for DVD release !
 

Day of The Locust, Murder on The Orient Express, and any Hammer titles would be my choices.

My vote is for Bugsy Malone. OAR. Commentary by Alan Parker, Jodie Foster, Chachi, and Paul Williams recorded with all four watching the movie together, not edited from separate interviews. If there's deleted songs or voice tests -- maybe they considered using the actors' singing voices before going with adults -- that would be cool. Promotional making of from 1976 would be more interesting (and cheaper for Paramount) than a new featurette. 5.1 remix.

A good historical commentary on Wings would be great.

If Chevy Chase would have to get paid for a commentary for Foul Play, then save your money. He won't add any value.

Out of your list of eleven none of them really interest me. However, it can't be expensive to put a theatrical trailer and an audio commentary onto a DVD and the people that like the movies that get this minimal treatment will appreciate it.

Speaking of theatrical trailers, not having the trailer included has stopped me from buying quite a few Paramount titles.

I would purchase Foul Play if it had good extra features. A commentary from Chevy Chase would be great.

Bugsy Malone would be the other on the list that I'd be interested in. A Scott Baio and Alan Parker commentary, perhaps? Of course, I'd love a Jodie Foster commentary, but that's just wishful thinking.

I vote for Foul Play, Murder on the Orient Express and Bugsy Malone. Foul Play, especially, since it was filmed in my hometown and featured Chevy Chase in his first leading role. I recall seeing many cute trailers for this film and I'd love to see them all included. A commentary would be nice. I think Foul Play is an important film to the film resume of Collin Higgins and I'd love to see some sort of acknowledgement to his work in the comedy (and comedy/thriller) genre in the '70's. A Goldie Hawn commentary or interview would be ideal, also.

Jerry Lewis movies deserve SE treatment. JL commentary, production photos, screen tests would be welcome. Double features are a great idea (Tashlin directed and Lewis directed pairings would work nicely).

Re: Hammer & Argento- fans are used to SE treatment by now and you do want to keep up with your competition, don't you? A special "extra" request: lurid and sensational cover art, reversable alternate covers are fun too.

IF is a fascinating film and deserves special treatment.

Bugsy Malone would be great, with a retrospective documentary a la Stand By Me. And an Alan Parker commentary, too?

If would be an interesting case.

IF...,truly deserves a commentary at the very least....and the original uncut originaly X rated version.


Foul Play...is a great title as well. As long as it's in WS ,i'm happy,but a commentary would be great.

Since this is a story that takes place on an interesting set and everyone loves trains the dvd could take advantage of a great opportunity to let the viewer further explore that set.

The book includes a diagram of a passenger car. But the dvd could do so much better with a virtual rendition of the car or at least part of one. Maybe as part of the menu theme or as a "virtual tour" extra feature.

Also you might consider including a documentary on the real Orient Express as well as a biography of Agatha Christie.

Death on the Nile is also one of my favorite movies and I thought Anchor Bay missed a similar opportunity to create a virtual Karnak steamship for dvd viewers to explore.

btw, my dvd preferences are:

1. OAR
2. Picture Quality and Sound Quality (and for older movies I'd prefer a clean original mono soundtrack over a mediocre created-for-dvd 5.1 soundtrack if that's the choice. )
3. Goofs, flubbed lines
4. Trailers for other movies as well as the featured movie
5. Cast & Crew Interviews

In 1977, Bugsy Malone was all the rage in my school. Everyone I knew had the record, sang the songs, fired imaginary creme-filled machine guns at our teachers. Bugsy Malone was the undisputed king of fourth grade.

Then Star Wars came along and blew him off the map. No one talked about Bugsy Malone anymore.

But some of us still remember. Some of us can't get Paul Williams' voice out of our heads. Some of us know every word to "Fat Sam's Grand Slam Speakeasy." Some of us never could buy Scott Baio as "Chachi." (He's Bugsy, dammit.) Some of us still think of Jodie Foster as Talullah. Some of us are in serious need of help. So help us out. Give us a jam-packed DVD, and watch Bugsy Malone reclaim his throne (now that we're all tired of Star Wars).

I'd like to throw in my vote for:

Murder on the Orient Express
Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter
Any other Hammer films you've got stashed away
And, of course, Four Flies On Grey Velvet
