Jaws.

Still the best film Spielberg has ever made... The best of the very small number of really good films that SS has turned out.

Barry Lyndon a very close second... Sorry Stanley.

Thought about going with Dog Day Afternoon, but I gotta go with Jaws.

My '75 favs:

Jaws
Dog Day Afternoon
Monty Python Holy Grail
Cooley High

Haven't seen Nashville, but I gotta rent it now. (That why these threads are cool!)

I'm going to have to go with Dog Day Afternoon followed very closely by Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Barry Lyndon all the way.

Love And Death would get my second vote, as it's tied with Manhattan for my favorite Woody Allen film.

1. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
2. Barry Lyndon (IMHO, the most under-rated Kubrick film)
3. Jaws

Well, in one of the classic years of cinema, the vote was very spread out among only 6 films - but Jaws is definitely on top, almost enough so that this one should be closed, but not quite. So I'll leave it open a while and see what happens:

1) Jaws (12 votes)
2) Monty Python and the Holy Grail (7.5)
3) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (7)
4) Nashville (6)
5) Dog Day Afternoon (4.5)
6) Barry Lyndon

1974 is open here!

Jaws is such a great (and rewatchable) pleasure, but my vote has got to go to Cuckoo's Nest.

The scene where Nicholson vies for the inmates' votes to watch the World Series game, then proceeds to announce the play by play to a blank TV screen is simply one of the most memorable scenes I've ever seen.

"The Chief voted! The Chief voted!"
