Saturday Night Fever, baby.

IMO, this was truly a year without a single great film (which is kind of funny, given that the decade of the 70s was such a great film decade overall). I just can't bring myself to pick the "best" from the group of merely good ones.

How in God's name is Saturday Night Fever better than Star Wars?

I can understand folks that vote for Annie Hall, great film, the polar opposite of Star Wars. SNF is a good movie, but how in the world does it come close to Star Wars?

And then there are those of us who vote for That Obscure Object of Desire and say "how in the world does Star Wars come even close to it?"

The moral: "To each his own"

 Not to turn this into a Star Wars thread (though we know that's how it'll end up anyway), I last saw SW when I was about 10, and didn't think much of it then, and I have basically no desire to see it again (or the new ones, neither of which I've seen). I saw Empire on the big screen a few years ago, and frankly it bored me.

I'll get around to seeing them all on DVD eventually, but I'm in no hurry to, and by no means would I call any of them great films.

So there, to each his own. :D

I'm a total STAR WARS geek, but I have to vote for CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND.

It's a better movie.
