My pick: The Talented Mr. Ripley

But I also think Election, The Iron Giant, Toy Story 2, Princess Mononoke (it does count as a 1999 release, right?), The Matrix, and Fight Club were all great as well.

Another very tough choice...Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl was the other choice, also American Beauty. That top spot is a tough...but Malkovich will do.
