Odd Spartacus Glitch

I was rewatching Spartacus last night a notice the following.

At 108 minutes into the movie, Spartacus returns to his former prison. We see Spartacus look around in a long shot. Strangely though, the bricks on the wall at the bottom of the screen flicker. There flicker isn't similar to the wavy patterns that a busy shirt might make.

It's an odd phenomenom. Any one know why this happens?

Thanks.

It's probably just twikoff. No reason to worry.

FilmStudent 09-19-01 04:22 PM

What's a twikoff? Not worried...don't think anything is "wrong" with my disk...just curious about the limits of the technology.

joltaddict 09-19-01 07:52 PM

Mine doesnt twikoff. Is it the old one or the Criterion?

FilmStudent 09-19-01 10:29 PM

Criterion.

LBP...did you know which moment in the film I'm referering to? It's the bricks in the lower part of the frame that create a "line" that visually leads to Douglas.

The otters invade the main forum

RandyC 09-20-01 04:00 PM

I thought the twickoff problem was only on the Das Boot version.... no?

Venusian 09-20-01 04:00 PM

ChiTownAbs, Inc 09-20-01 04:02 PM

What was that das Boot joke again? I always laugh when I hear it ...

matta 09-20-01 04:06 PM

I've got the same movie and just forwarded to the part you mentioned. I see no flickering, so it's obviously not a twikoff... mostlikely due to some abrasion on your disk due to heat, or a microscopic scratch. Either way, it's your disk.

CKMorpheus 09-20-01 04:06 PM

Okay otters... Let's walk back to your cages. (Damn, who let them out?) [Drags the otters by their collars] Sorry friend, this won't happen again. :)

AndyCapps 09-20-01 04:23 PM

It's got to be twikoff.

jdpatri 09-20-01 05:11 PM

I'm glad I spent some time in the Other forum recently. It's good to know a twikoff when ya see one.

Damnit!! I thought I would've been the first crossover success from Other, not Twikoff. -rolleyes-

Um, I guess you figured you are getting messed with?

On the serious side you might want to ask The Edit King.

bfrank 09-20-01 06:06 PM

Is it just me or does it feel great to you guys to get out?

I would be furious at you for editing my post if it wasn't true. (Jules stuffs his bra.)

Yes, it's quite refreshing. It's like after all the holes, mold and fungus growing on an old pair of underwear(Other), your mom buys you a new pair. It feels weird at first but then that first fungi appears and it starts looking like home. Ahh.

It is a bit sad that we strayed off topic for this thread though....

Hey...if you have some oddities at certain points when playing back a DVD....check for melon juice on the DVD. If it splatters on the disc, it may affect the playback

Jackskeleton 09-20-01 06:53 PM

some one forgot to lock the cage to the other... might aswell run around a bit.. ;)

as for the response.. its part of most of all polls. :p

I'm sorry Bushdog. I just turned around for a minute to get a fresh Packasmokes© and a few of them jumped the fence when my back was turned.

I think that "shock collar" idea you brought up in the Mods Forum is a good one. Will we be able to adjust the voltage?

[sigh]... okay, guys, seriously... let's try to help this guy out.

Do you have a progressive scan DVD player? I hear progressive scan irons out the twikoff problem that some of the newer Criterion discs have. :D

twikoff 09-20-01 09:06 PM

Three Day Delay 09-20-01 09:48 PM

In my copy, Spartacus seems to only have one boob. Anyone else?

Is that the scene in which Spartacus asks a gladiator if he ever saw a grown man naked?

Venusian 09-20-01 10:47 PM

seems all the smart Dvd Talk usuals are staying out of hte hijacked thread

FilmStudent 09-20-01 11:09 PM

michael....thanks for the help and bringing this thread back....

What is a twickoff?

Since I am one of the non-otters that knows remotely whats going on here, I feel it is my duty... nay... priviledge to wrangle this thread... hijacked by evil-doers to the ground before it destroys the whole DVDTalk forum.

"I mean you no disrespect."
